The Power of Soccer

Ever wondered just how much power and influence soccer can have on people’s lives? Well look no further than the Homeless World Cup.  This is a tournament that takes place annually and features close to 50 nations. The teams are comprised of homeless people from nations around the world. For a majority of the people that participate in the tournament, this represents a turning point in their lives. It is reported that 77% of the people that participate in these Homeless world cups go on to get a job, get off drugs, rebuild relationships, etc. With an estimated 1 billion homeless people worldwide, soccer is positively changing people’s lives around the world, and helping to reduce the homeless population. That is the power of soccer.

I’ve been looking forward to this for about a month, and it should be well worth the wait. If you’re not gonna be home, set the TiVo for this one.
