What a whirlwind the last few days have been for anyone involved with Manachester city. It was only recently that the club looked to be in a world of hurt,  and that this season could end up being a very difficult one for the blue side of Manchester. But what a difference a few days and a new owner with billions of dollars at his disposal make. With the takeover of the club by Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG), Manchester City now has an owner whose pockets are deeper than even Roman’s, and who is looking to spend some of his scratch and win some trophies. Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim has already stated that he wants to win the Premier League and the Champion’s League and that he believes Manchester City will be the biggest club in the world. The talk of which players will be bought by Manchester City has begun, with none other than Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the list.

Victor MacFarlane, who runs MacFralane Partners and just happens to be one of the owners of DC United has put his San Fransisco penthouse on the market for $70 million large. Seriously…I couldn’t make this up even if I tried.  I don’t even know what to say about this one, so I’m going to stop typing now.

Micheal Owen is Getting Paid

Filed under: Dolla Dolla Bills, Michael Owen, Newcastle

michael-owen

We’re getting used to hearing about the insane amounts of money that footballers make in Europe, and it looks like Michael Owen is about to join the ranks of the top earners. Although Owen has started just 37 matches in two years for Newcastle, it looks like they are set to offer him a deal worth £140,000-a-week over three years. Damn! That is some serious paper! That would make him the second highest earner in england, behind Franks Lampard. Crazy times…

Hip Hop’s Biggest Earners

Filed under: Dolla Dolla Bills, Moguls, hip hop

50-cent

It wasn’t that long ago that hip hop was thought of a fad that would pass. But it didn’t, and not only has it defied the odds by sticking around, but it has built a culture that transcends the music and influences people around the world. With that in mind, Forbes has just released their list of the top earners in Hop Hop for 2008. The dudes on this list have created some serious wealth for themselves and countless others. From a genre and subculture that people ridiculed and scorned, to the top of the world, hip hop has come a long way.

On a side note, being ridiculed, scorned and having the mainstream American media bash you at every turn sounds an awfully lot like something else we are all a part of…

Check out the list of the top hip hop earners after the jump.

£35.8million Price Tag for Adebayor

Filed under: AC Milan, Adebayor, Arsenal, Dolla Dolla Bills, WTF

UPDATE - No need to worry about a price tag anymore as E-Adebayor has signed a new and improved “long term deal”.

I’m having a tough time believing that the big man from Togo isn’t absolutely thrashing that so-called wage ceiling at Arsenal now.

And I guess I have my answer after it’s finally reported that EA will make 80,ooo Pound a week.

adebayor

Milan have opted out of siging Adebayor (at least for the moment) after Arsenal have placed a £35.8million price tag on him. I know the dude dropped 30 goals last season, and probably should have had a few more, but $70 million after one great season? How about $40 million for Gareth Barry? Yes, he too is a very good player, but seriously! $40 million because he is a great complimentary player to Stevie G? WTF! These transfer fees are getting more and more ridiculous and at what point does the value to cost ratio start balancing out? There is a ton of money getting pumped into the game, and some of the richest cats in the world are now owning teams, but these valuations do not seem justified to me, and at these sorts of prices it doesn’t seem like the sport can be sustained going forward like this.

We all know they do things big in Dubai. Big hotels, big man made islands, very big wallets, and coming next year, the biggest water fountain in the world. This fountain will clock in at 825 feet long, 25% bigger than the fountains at The Bellagio in Las Vegas.  On top of this, a network of 6,600 lights and 50 projectors will light up the continuosly growing Dubai skyline. Ree-dic-u-lous! More pics after the jump.

Filed under: Billionaires, Dolla Dolla Bills, Roman Abramovich, WTF

princess-mariana-1

If you have some seriously deep pockets, and I’m talking Roman Abramovich type scratch, then you might want to consider a trip on the Princess Mariana. This mega yacht was built in 2003, underwent a $12 million refurbishment in 2006, and can be your rental for the massive price tag of  $606,500 a week, or roughly $1 per second. I could go on and describe to you all the amenities that this beautiful yacht has to offer, but I can’t get past the $1 per second price tag. Silliness… Check out some pics after the jump.

Filed under: Blackburn Rovers, David Bentley, Dolla Dolla Bills, Tottenham, Transfer News

UPDATE - Spurs have captured Bentley after the wide midfielder passed his physical tonight at White Hart Lane.

The perspective 6 year deal cost Tottenham 15 Million Pound.

Expect Tottenham to announce the capture of Arshavin within days.

david-bentley

Having completed the sale of Robbie Keane to Liverpool for some £20 million, Tottenham are set to spend some of that coin on Blackburn Rovers and young England up and comer David Bentley. Blackburn have already turned down a previous off from Spurs and one from Aston Villa because neither club matched their £17 million valuation. With all the money that Spurs have on hand after selling Keane, look for this deal to be wrapped up soon. Check out a video of David Bentley after the jump.

Tottenahm - Go Big or Go Home

Filed under: Dolla Dolla Bills, Tottenham, Transfer News

arshavin

So yesterday I told you that Spurs were going all in with their bid for young England ace David Bentley.  Now, to the surprise of very few people, their transfer dream is looking to be complete as they are willing to spend £36million on Bentley and the Russian baby faced assasin Andrei Arshavin. That is some serious scratch for Spurs to splash out, but these moves could put them on a new level…at least potentialy. Do you think Bentley and Arshavin would make up for selling Defoe and Keane? After the jump check out an Arshavin compilation.

The Dark Knight Breaks Record

Filed under: Dark Knight, Dolla Dolla Bills, Movies

dark-knight-breaks-record

After doing $66 million in it’s first day of release, it looks like The Dark Knight is going to break the previous record for biggest opening weekend. Spiderman 3 held the previous record when it did $151.1 million in it’s opening weekend back in May 2007/ But now it looks like The Dark Knight will beat that with a record box opening of $155.3 million. That is some serious scratch for one weekend.
