Kansas City v Columbus Highlights

Filed under: Columbus Crew, ESPN, Kansas City Wizards

You gotta think this game feels like a loss in the Columbus locker room after coming back from giving up 2 goals in the first 20 minutes and heading into halftime with a 3-2 lead.

Entertaining game though and the Nordecke was killing it again.

Good to see Josh Wolff get his name on the scorers sheet in his first game back with Kansas City.

Coldplay x ESPN x Euro 2008

With Coldplay getting ready to drop their latest album, they have just signed a marketing deal with ESPN in which they will promote soccer, the sports network and Euro 2008. My guess is this is a similar deal and situation to the one for the World Cup in 2006 when U2 and Bono were singing songs and doing ads all over ESPN. Any thoughts on this one?

ESPN Snatched Up Colin Farrell Soccer Documentary

Colin Farrell

I like to consider myself as being in the know. My girlfriend would probably disagree with me on that, but in my own mind, I am aware of a lot of what is going on. So imagine my surprise when I read that Colin Farrell narrated a documentary that highlights seven soccer players from six countries headed to participate in the Homeless World Cup. I wish I would have known about this when I posted something about this great event the other day, but sadly, I was completely unaware. Anyhoo, this documentary was getting ready to be shown recently at the Sundance Film Festival when ESPN stepped in at the last moment and bought the rights to the documentary’s TV and digital rights.  Although I haven’t seen this documentary nor do I know much about it, I hope ESPN deals with this correctly. I think the Homeless World Cup is an important event, and hopefully the documentary and ESPN’s distribution are able to bring light to this increasingly important event.

Champions League Finally Returns

Champions league

The Champions League makes its triumphant return today after a hiatus that seemed to last forever. I love the Champions League! Not only do we get to see some of the best clubs the world has to offer play one another, but the games are mid week, so when I sneak away to watch them, it feels like I am playing hooky. The pub is always packed when I head there for games. It is not often that you see a group of men, from a variety of backgrounds, with wildly differing careers who come together in the middle of a day to knock back some pints and let loose.

Your our boy Hopkins, but you just aren’t as easy on the eyes as Erin Andrews.
