Portland Power Players Meeting at 4pm

Today, Dec. 9, Portland will hold its first meeting of the Major League Taskforce at City Hall from 4:00 to 5:30. In attendance will be Don Garber, the commissioner of MLS, Mark Abbot, president of MLS, and Merritt Paulson, the owner of the Portland Timber and the Beavers. Image via SoccerCityUSA

Groups Reconsidering $40m MLS Fee?

Uncertainty around the $40-million franchise fee appears to be growing as the St. Louis bid group is reportedly okay with the fee as long as credit markets improve. The Miami bid group indicated it would pay $40 million as long as no one else pays less. More after jump.... (more...)

Several MLS Expansion Presentations Today

Representatives for all seven groups seeking two MLS expansion clubs, including several FC Barcelona officials supporting the Miami bid, are in Los Angeles for MLS Cup events and four apparently will make presentations to the league's board of governors Friday.
