World Cup 2010…Where Will You Be?

We’re about two years away from World Cup 2010. I’m a huge fan of the game and have always wanted to attend a World Cup since I watched Italy win in 82. However the current World Cup 2010 news is not good at all: The South African stadium contruction is way behind schedule because of strikes, there’s a huge shortage of hotel space, transportation is poor, local violence and cultural tension in SA is way up, airfares on US carriers are skyrocketing, Blatter is talking to several backup (and more convenient) countries, and the world economy is in the tank. For the first time, I am thinking I don’t want to go - I don’t want to spend the money, I don’t want to be in an unsafe environment, I don’t want to risk anything happening down there so far from the US/Europe. Maybe a trip to London and watching in some pubs would be an overall better option. Maybe I should take the money and buy a 60 inch hi-def Samsung and watch from my couch. I am leaning against the trip…

But what do you think? Are you planning on going to South Africa, assuming it will be there? Would you prefer another locale? Are my concerns about the danger of the place real or not? Where do you plan on watching the World Cup? Thoughts?

This Is What I Get For Going On The Road

Nesta Pouting

So I’m on my way to Burbank Airport (Thank God it’s there instead of LAX) to catch a flight to Dallas for tomorrow nights game between RSL and FC Dallas, and this is what I get from Nesta.

It’s almost as if she gets pissed at me, then depressed and makes sure I know she’s mad….

Gotta get the first flight out Sunday, landing at LAX at 7.55am and going live with the US v Italy game at 9am at the FSC studios. Hope I’m not delayed!

When Co-Pilots go nuckin futs

After having a plane land short of the runway just last week, Heathrow was on course for another shocker as an Air Canada flight from Toronto had a Co-Pilot go nuts. While in flight and over the Atlantic, the No.2 flipped his shit and had to be dragged from the cockpit where Air Marshals and Mounties tied him up as they made an Emergency landing at the Shannon Airport in Ireland.

Does this mean I still have to turn my phone off?

Study after study has shown that phones and internet wouldn’t affect the computer systems during airplane flights. All the time we’re told to turn our phones and computers in the Off position, but now it might be a little different since the Airlines will be making money off us. For the small price of only $10 for “short” flights and $12 for 3+ hour flights, Air Cell is available for internet scrolling on American Airlines Boeing 767-200 flights. Will I be able to get something more that peanuts now?
