Saudi Arabian Firm to Buy Stake in Liverpool

Looks like you will be seeing a lot more of Saudi Arabian Prince Faisal around Anfield in the near future, as Liverpool co-owner George Gillette is prepared to sell his stake to the Saudi firm F6. According to the Prince, he has said the deal could be worth “£200 million to £350 million.” If this deal goes through, this should give Liverpool some seriously deep pockets for which they will be able to tap into.

On a side note, is the Prince sporting a velvet jacket?

George Gillett

Doesn’t it seem like every single time Liverpool starts to get it right on the field one of the Co - Owners has something coming out in the press, taking the focus off the great form the team is in and putting it back once again on the possible “sale” of half the teams’ ownership?

Hicks Asks for Parry’s Resignation

Filed under: George Gillett, Liverpool, Tom Hicks

Tom Hicks

After deciding to stay in Texas to watch the Rangers opening day game while Liverpool came back in stunning form to push past Arsenal at Anfield and into the Semi-Finals of the Champions League, Co-Owner Tom Hicks has asked Liverpool Chief Executive Rick Parry to step down over his perceived siding with George Gillett.

The drama, which has been unfolding for the last six months has fortunately not affected the players as rumors have trickled down about players, staff and higher ups all season long.

A breakthrough was thought to have been achieved with Dubai group DIC, but Hicks and Gillett couldn’t come to an agreement as Hicks would have to approve the sale, but is looking to acquire all of Gillett’s shares personally rather than see them sold to another group.

As of now Gillett seems highly intent on selling his half stake in the club while Parry has publicly asked for the two to make a common sense decision involving one of the most supported clubs in the world.

No, you choose your partners more carefully

Say you decide to go into business with a buddy who’s as successful as yourself, wrap a ton of debt into your purchase and then start having problems with how he handles himself in the public eye.  I’d imagine it could get a bit icy between the two of them right?

Speaking at a sports conference in California, Liverpool co-owner George Gillett, who’s been having quite a shocker since purchasing a 50% stake in the Anfield club, was asked if he was going to remain as co-owner of Liverpool after meeting with Dubai based DIC about selling his shares in the club (which by the way would have netted Gillett with a tidy little profit for himself).

“I would say,  choose your partners wisely” was the sentence that was quoted coming out of his mouth, obviously referring to Tom Hicks.

Who else thinks this saga is going to continue to play out dramatically?  Disappointing really for a club with soo much support.  Maybe Gillett should just walk alone.
