Michael Laudrup Quits Getafe

Filed under: Getafe, Michael Laudrup, Resignations

Michael Laudrup’s taken Getafe to the Quarter-Finals of Uefa (going through Benfica, AEK and barely losing out to Bayern Munich 3-3 on away goals), the second consecutive King’s Cup Final (lost to Valencia) and a mid-table (13th) finish in La Liga. Not bad for following up Bernd Schuster.
Now he’s announced that he’s stepping down at the end of the season.

Valencia takes the 2008 Copa Del Rey

Filed under: Copa del Rey, Getafe, Valencia

Ronald Koeman’s side has salvaged just a little bit of pride from a hugely disappointing season by taking the Copa Del Rey through a 3-1 win over Getafe at the Caulderon in Madrid.

What a heartbreaking week for Getafe, suffering a heartbreaking loss in the UEFA Cup on away goals to Bayern Munich and then losing the Final.
