A couple of new stills of the upcoming movie Sherlock Holmes, directed by Guy Ritchie have been released today.
Robert Downey Jr is playing Sherlock Holmes with Jude Law playing his trusty pal, Dr. Watson.
Ritchie has praised American actor Downey Junior for his spot-on English accent in the film.
He said earlier this year: ‘My one concern was the accents but this is no longer the case. Robert Downey has the best English accent I’ve ever heard.’
With names like Solo One, Busk, Astek, Chu, Shucks and Panik attached to the campaign after watching the film for inspiration, one can only wondering what else they’re about to come up with.
It’s been well established that I’m a huge Guy Ritchie fan, so when I continue seeing previews of his new film RocknRolla AND read about new trailers being dropped at Comic Con along with a cast / panel presentation, I get my little panties in a bunch.
The big names that American audiences will know (if they haven’t seen Snatch or Lock Stock) are Gerard Butler (300), Chris Bridges (Ludacris) and Jeremy Piven (Ari - Entourage).
1. Upon being asked if there was pressure from the studios to do a movie that resembled his more successful early efforts, Guy Ritchie didn’t bother trying to bullshit the audience, instead offering up an enthusiastic, “Yup!”
2. When a woman went up to the stage in a get-up I can only assume was meant to portray what the Queen of England would be like were she to go to Mardi Gras, followed by only further distancing herself from the realm of sanity by bulging her eyes out, bobbling her head in various directions, and making it very clear she wanted to ride Gerard Butler’s jock, the famed Spartan made the simple but effective claim, “You’re fucking weird.”
3. Jeremy Piven revealed that he was the one who approached Ritchie for a part in the film, with the intention of doing a role that would separate him from his Ari Gold persona on Entourage. As it so happened, the only Americans in the script were two black men. “And that’s why you see what you see here today.”
4. Commenting on Gerard Butler’s coverage of multiple genres, from comedies to action to musicals, a Comic Con attendee asked, “What do you want to do next?” Butler’s response: “Halle Berry.”
As it’s been well documented on The Original Winger, I’ve had this weird obsession with the Guy Ritchie directed Nike commercial, “Take It To The Next Level”. Everything about it is unchartered territory as far as standard soccer commercials go, from the viewers personal perspective being a lowly club player, scouted and signed with Arsenal, spot on training sessions with teammates, Premiership League substitute debuts against Manchester United, Champions League matches against Inter and Barcelona, and all the way through up to playing for the Dutch National Team. And don’t forget the cameo’s. The Voyeur, Tevez, Rooney, Zlatan, Ronaldinho, Sneijder, van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo to name just a few.
I always found myself wondering along with everyone else, “who was the person that was the player?” Was it van Persie? Fabregas? I just couldn’t figure it out.
Just about a week ago I found out who the guy is behind the entire commercial through a random conversation between a couple of Hollywood United players at the Home Depot Center before the SuperClasico match and never realized that guy is the same guy I’ve been playing with for the past four months.
Meet the man behind the 10 pound helmet cam, Gilbert Montoya, a Sacramento raised Southern California transplant since 1993.
Guy Ritchie might have been MIA for awhile (although his recent ad campiagn for Nike Football has been cool), but it looks like he might be back now. RocknRolla looks like it could be another hit in the same vein as Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.
