The Houston Dynamo’s search for a striker following the Expansion Draft loss of Nate Jaqua has seemingly ended after head coach Dominic Kinnear introduced 34 year old Nigerian Ade Akinbiyi to the press Monday afternoon at the team’s headquarters in downtown Houston.

I got into Houston the other day and decided to go to the Houston Dynamo’s opening night match against the Columbus Crew last night.  Being a Dallas fan, I sat near a few very quiet Crew Supporters in the upper corner.  The view isn’t bad from up here though, giving a nice perspective of downtown and the Dynamo supporters huge flags.

The process is moving forward with the Houston Commission, with a conditional agreement to invest $10 million in the project.

“It is a time of giving,” said Harris County Commissioner Sylvia Garcia on Wednesday. “If we can give all the soccer sports fans a stadium for them and get a deal together, that’s great.”

Toronto FC, pulled a Friday afternoon blockbuster by announcing it had acquired Scarborough native Dwayne DeRosario from Houston. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Dynamo will receive defender Julian James and allocation money in the transfer.
