Steven Gerrard and David Ngog Set to Return for Clash with Manchester City

Injured Liverpool pair Steven Gerrard and David Ngog are fit to return for Saturday’s crunch clash with Manchester City. Skipper Gerrard has been hampered for several weeks with a groin injury and in the absence of their talisman Liverpool have suffered damaging defeats to Fulham in the Premier League and Lyon in the Champions League.

Ngog, meanwhile, suffered a broken nose on France Under 21 duty this week. His absence would have been another blow with star striker Fernando Torres already sidelined with a groin problem. (more…)

Arsenal have been dealt a huge injury blow with the news that star striker Robin van Persie could face several months on the sidelines after tearing his ankle ligaments on international duty.

The Dutchman was withdrawn after just 15 minutes of the Netherlands’ 0-0 draw with reigning world champions Italy, after being brought down by Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini while chasing a through ball. (more…)

Carlo Cudicini, Tottenhan Hotspur keeper In Serious Motor Crash

Cudicini’s BMW motorbike collided with a car in Walthamstow at 10.30am and the Italian was taken to hospital where he is being treated for a suspected broken pelvis, as well as two fractured wrists. An air ambulance also arrived on the scene but was not used.

The woman driver of the car and a child who was in the car with her did not need hospital treatment. Roads were closed in the area after the incident which is being investigated by the Chadwell Heath collision investigation unit. No arrests have been made. (more…)

The original story goes like this:

Paramedics say Charla Nash, 55, lost her nose, eyes and jaw as the crazed simian ate her alive in the driveway of her friend’s Stamford, Conn., home Monday. His voice shaky, her twin brother, Mike Nash, thanked the four teams of specialists who performed more than seven hours of surgery.

“The team of doctors and staff battled around the clock to stabilize Charla,” he said inside Stamford Hospital.

Charlie Davies Released From the Hospital

U.S. national team forward Charlie Davies has been released from a Washington hospital nearly a month after a car accident. Davies, 23, underwent several surgeries at Washington Hospital Center and was later transferred to National Rehabilitation Hospital to begin recovery.

“I would like to take the time to thank everyone who has dealt with me in the Hospital Center and NRH for really putting in the time to help me get better as a person and as an athlete,” Davies said in a statement released on his behalf.

“I continue to improve every day, and I look forward to getting back on my feet and attacking rehabilitation.”
