UH OH!! Rafa Benitez Admits That Fernando Torres May Need an Operation

RAFA BENITEZ’S Kop crisis deepened last night as he admitted Fernando Torres may need an operation.

The Spanish striker is battling a damaged groin and surgery could KO him for two months. Steven Gerrard might also go under the knife on Thursday if a scan on his groin confirms the worst.

Liverpool boss Benitez will play Torres in Lyon tomorrow, despite his injury. (Huh!)

But he said: “We are trying to manage, as he was close to having an operation. Two days after the Fulham game, he is still feeling something. (more…)

Cristiano Ronaldo will not be fit in time for Real Madrid’s trip to AC Milan in the Champions League next week, the La Liga club said on Wednesday. The Portuguese forward, who has been out since aggravating an injury to his right ankle while on international duty three weeks ago, had been targeting a return for the trip to Italy.

Ronaldo will undergo another test in a week’s time, Real said in a statement on their website. (more…)

Milan vice president Adriano Galliani has confirmed that England midfielder David Beckham will join the club in January. On Wednesday night, Beckham had claimed his move back to Milan was “95 per cent done”, and now Galliani has echoed that statement with one of his own. The chief is delighted to bring the midfielder back for a second stint as he puffs his chest out with pride.

“David Beckham’s return on loan in January is already a done deal,” Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.

US Soccer Issues Charlie Davies Injury Update

Charlie Davies Injury

US Soccer has put out an official update on the status of US International and Sochaux forward Charlie Davies following an afternoon of surgeries for injuries suffered in an early Tuesday morning, one car accident.

The 23 year old has suffered a lacerated bladder, fractures to the tibia and femur in his right leg, left elbow fracture and facial fractures.  

Thoughts and prayers here at BP_TOW are with all involved.

Steven Gerrard Pulls Out of England v. Belarus WCQ

Steven Gerrard will miss England’s World Cup qualifier against Belarus because of a groin injury. The Liverpool captain picked up the injury during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat in Ukraine and limped out of Tuesday morning’s training session. England boss Fabio Capello, who said he would name an ”experimental side”, said: ”He didn’t finish training because the pain was the same as yesterday. He’s going back to Liverpool.” (more…)

Charlie Davies Injured in Car Accident - Breaking News

ESPN is reporting:

Charlie Davies, a striker for the United States national soccer team, was involved in a one-car accident early Tuesday in which another person was killed, a USA Soccer spokeman said.

Davies was in surgery Tuesday afternoon and in stable condition, USA Soccer spokesman Neil Buethe said. The extent of his injuries were unknown, but Buethe said they were not life-threatening.

It is not known whether Davies was the driver or a passenger in the car.

Surely there will be more on this.
