From FSC to HDC to FSC

Rogo

This is what delirious looks like.  Rogo and I had a 4am call time for yesterday’s North Korea v South Korea World Cup Qualifier that was played in Shanghai because of North Korea’s refusal to allow the South Korean flag into the stadium and their refusal to play the South Korea National Anthem.  FIFA had to step in and relocate the game.

Rogo3

After the game Rogo and I headed down to the Home Depot Center and the LA Galaxy practice where Rogo got put through his paces by my former New England Revolution teammate and current Galaxy goalie coach Ian Feuer.

Rogo2

Then it was a little interview with the LA keepers and Josh Wicks for Fox Sports Net West.

Rogo4

For a day Rogo got to re-live his D1 San Diego State days back in the 90’s.

Then it was back to the FSC studios for the Australia at Uzbekistan World Cup Qualifier at 2.30pm.

Mo Johnston On Maurice Edu - Gets His Work Permit

Filed under: Glasgow Rangers, Interviews, Maurice Edu, Transfer News

UPDATE -  Maurice Edu is officially a Glasgow Ranger after the hearing panel in Hampden took just over an hour to grant him his Work Permit and seal his 2.7 Million Pound switch.

And the first game he’ll be eligible to play in, The Old Firm Match on August 31st at Parkhead (Celtic).  Wow.

I was lucky enough to train with Rangers back in 1997 for three months and I can tell you first hand as I was able to see two Old Firm matches at Ibrox (Rangers) and one at Parkhead, it’s one of the craziest games you’ll ever see up close.

Maurice Edu

Toronto FC’s Coach / GM / Director of Football / Trade Maestro Mo Johnston has a great interview over at the Evening Times of Glasgow about everything that IS Maurice Edu.

From his time at Maryland, the MLS Combine, MLS Draft, MLS Rookie of the Year, Olympic Team Qualification, Full National Team call ups, Olympics to his 2.7 Million Pound Transfer that is only held up as of now by a Work Permit, the former Celtic and Ranger man quotes it all.

And yes, that Five Year Deal is something that proves that Ranger’s boss man Walter Smith is very high on the Inland Empire (909) product.

Imagine a midfield of Barry Ferguson, Pedro Mendes, DaMarcus Beasley and Maurice Edu. Won’t have to much longer.

Matt Taylor’s Path To Koblenz

Matt Taylor Bust

My journey here has been incredible. I have covered many miles and met some pretty cool people. I don’t know how much you know about my situation post San Jose. I took some time off after the news and tried to let my body heal from the heel issue (bruised or fractured) and that terrible sickness I got (put me under for 2 weeks in a hotel in San Jose). Once I finally got fit and healthy Anthony LaPaglia, who is the man by the way, was pumped on me and loved the way I played that he was determined to find me a team. After playing a few games with Hollywood United I was able to gain some game fitness and play some soccer again. Special highlight in my career was to beat Portland Timbers with our mix of no namers and over the hill pros that no longer belonged on the field or never got a fair shake. So after a good experience with Hollywood I was off to Sydney.

MNT Previews Guatemala

I think that’s something we always forget about as fans when the team goes on the road, the constant badgering of the team by fans, radio stations and the phone calls in the middle of the night.

Makes it even sweeter when they walk away with a result.

Adidas Dream MLS - Jaime Moreno

Filed under: DC United, Interviews, adidas

We’ve already hipped you to the Adidas Dream MLS campaign and what they’ve been doing to spread the professional words of wisdom to the kids.

We’ve seen Parkhurst’s spot and now thanks to our guy Kyle Sheldon over at DC United’s Behind the Badge, we can now check out the Bolivian legend Jaime Morneo.

Kinda suiting that Moreno’s spot is about taking PK’s since he’s the king of goals from the spot.

Week 19 - Coaches Quotes

I’m a huge fan of hearing post game interviews with Coaches when they’re honest and not being politically correct.
