‘The way it works is pretty simple: plug in my transmitter into the iphone 4 and play back any video clip. you can play it through the ipod feature or through the camera roll. the transmitter instantly sends the video signal to the video repeater and the video repeater overrides any video screen that it’s being held next to. it doesn’t matter what shape or size the hacked screen is because the hack video will simply keep its correct dimensions and the rest of the hacked space will stay black.

I chose times square for my demo because it has lots of video screens to try it on. it is also one of the most monitored and secured areas in new york city and that made it that much more fun .’

The audience greeted Jobs with a standing ovation. He took the stage looking better than he had at a similar event a year ago, when his gaunt appearance added to speculation that he might have had a reoccurrence of the pancreatic cancer he battled five years ago.

The focus of the event was on the company’s iPod line. Jobs showcased a new iPod Nano that comes with a built-in video camera as well as an FM radio tuner and pedometer.

The company also trimmed the price on its popular iPod Touch, cutting the price of the 8GB model to $199. The Touch features a touch-screen similar to the company’s popular iPhone, and allows users to surf the Web and download games and apps over a WiFi connection.

For the larger iPod Touch sizes, Apple effectively doubled the memory of the $299 model to 32GB, and the $399 model now comes with 64 GB.

Apple’s product marketing director, Phil Schiller, said the company has sold more than 20 million units of the iPod Touch to date. He cited NPD data that said the iPod was the No. 1 digital music player in the U.S. in July, with almost 74% of the market

Earlier in the event, Jobs highlighted the company’s iPhone and iPod business lines. He announced a new software update for the iPhone, which has sold more than 30 million units to date. The software update is called 3.1 that is available now.

In addition to the new iPod Nano, the company launched an updated version of its iTunes software called iTunes 9, which includes new features that allow for easier managing of applications on the iPhone or the iPod touch and easier sharing of content between computers at home.

The new Home Sharing feature allows up to five computers to share and copy music, TV shows, movies and applications.

Apple has also redesigned the iTunes store with a cleaner look and organization, and a new iTunes LP feature that gives a buyer access to lyrics, liner notes, videos, album artwork and other material with the purchase of an entire album

OK, i was joking today and did a facebook status update wondering where the app for auto-tune was and lo and behold, you do a little bit of checking and Teddy Pin’dherassdown has something in the works. If you dont think that I am getting this app the day it comes out, you dont know me…If you dont think that I will be shoutin, “C’mon somebody” all day ann day you reeeaaally don’t know me… and I might have to steal his “aka 3 times if you let me” … T-Pain might be my new guy…

Steve Jobs letter to his staff today: 

Team,

I am sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my family, but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought.

In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations, and I know he and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.

I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.

The big man is officially taking a leave from now until June. For the time being Tim Cook, Apple’s current COO, will be taking over. It will be interesting to see how the stock price and that place in NY that used to be known as ‘the street’ react, because as a former owner of apple stock, the price used to dip when the man got a cold…. one thing we know is that it’ll be interesting for sure
