Looks like you will be seeing a lot more of Saudi Arabian Prince Faisal around Anfield in the near future, as Liverpool co-owner George Gillette is prepared to sell his stake to the Saudi firm F6. According to the Prince, he has said the deal could be worth “£200 million to £350 million.” If this deal goes through, this should give Liverpool some seriously deep pockets for which they will be able to tap into.

On a side note, is the Prince sporting a velvet jacket?

Dirk Kuyt was the hero at Anfield today for Liverpool, although I’m sure people were expecting more from the Reds in this one.  But, three points nevertheless.

Media in England are reporting that Liverpool has agreed to an 80 Million Pound sponsorship kit deal with London based Standard Chartered (one that will match Manchester United’s deal), kicking off the summer of 2010 and ending a 17 year relationship with Carlsberg.

Liverpool slumped to their second Premier League defeat in nine days as they lost 3-1 to Aston Villa to put their title credentials firmly on the line. Villa produced a defiant, organized display and deserved their first win at Anfield since 2001.

The result also ended Liverpool’s 31-match unbeaten home league record stretching back to December 2007, when Manchester United were the last winners at Anfield.

While soccer fans have watched the chaos surrounding Tom Hicks’  Liverpool financing, in another set of financial books, Hick’s NHL Dallas Stars have defaulted on their debt and his Texas Rangers baseball team is currently for sale although no buyers can be found.  Not looking good for Mr. Hicks…
