No More Sexiness In LA

Ruud Gullit

AEG Chief Executive Officer Tim Leiweke and the LA Galaxy have accepted the resignation of Head Coach Ruud Gullit, with Cobi Jones stepping up as Interim Head Coach effective immediately ahead of Thursday night’s SuperClasico.

General Manager Alexi Lalas was also fired in the shuffle, whose contract was set to expire at the end of the season. Tom Payne, the teams Assistant GM will take over Lalas’ duties for now, with Director of Player Personnel Paul Bravo assisting Payne.

With Gullit throwing his LA crib up on the market just at the end of last month and Darth Leiweke making a throwdown appearance in the Galaxy locker room last week, was this really any surprise?

Gullit said in the Galaxy’s Press Release, “In truth, it has proved a lot more difficult than I anticipated for my family to settle in the area and the club has been very supportive and understanding of my decision. I would like to thank the players and the fans for their fantastic support and I wish the LA Galaxy much success in the future. I would now like to spend some time with my family before considering any other position in football.”

As for Lalas, Leiweke said, “With Ruud moving on, we believe that this is the right time to make more sweeping changes throughout the organization.  Our commitment continues to be focused on not only winning the MLS Cup this and every season but to build a club capable of competing at the international level. This decision is the right one for the organization, the right one for the players and the right one for our fans. We thank Alexi for the tremendous hard work and dedication he brought to his job each and every day.”

Wonder what Vegas has for odds on The Bruce for Head Coach or GM? I’m thinking the latter might be in the cards…

The thing about the People’s Republic of Santa Monica is that if you have an opinion about something you want to get out there, you can.

The London 2012 Olympic organizing committee are keeping their plans for the Closing Ceremonies in Beijing close to their chest, but it is rumored that Beckham will play a key role. This travel schedule is potentially crazy, check it out.

Heading Back to Downtown

I gotta head back downtown to check up once again on the Bumpy Pitch samples. There is one more process that the shirts have to go through, and I need to check up on them before they can take their final step in the process.  WithThe X Games in town, and the Staples Center as one of the venues, downtown is popping off right now with events and activity. The Standard Hotel (the picture above is The Standard’s rooftop pool) is at at the center of all of this attention. The hotel has been booked exclusively for athletes and celebrities so you know good times are over flowing there. I have some friends staying at the hotel as they are a part of the festivities, so a quick lunch break at the hotel before heading off to our manufacturer is definitely in order. I’ll post some pictures later. Back in a bit…

Out and About In Los Angeles

I started off my day early with a meeting in downtown LA finally being able to check out some new Bumpy Pitch samples. We’ve changed a few things up (more to come on that soon) and I was finally able to meet up with our manufacturer and see how things are coming along. Thankfully the new gear is coming along incredibly (you never know until you can see and feel the product) so I was able to leave downtown and head up to Sherman Oaks.

Ruud Gullit’s LA Crib On The Market

I’m not exactly sure why, but Ruud Gullit has put his Hollywood Hills crib up for sale. Priced at $4.25 million, this house looks to be pretty incredible. And for those that aren’t particularly familiar with the area, the Hollywood Hills is off the hook. I can’t imagine this house will be for sale for long. More pictures of this incredible house after the jump.

Archlight

The Wifey and I just got back (after a pit stop at the Cheesecake Factory) from checking out the new Mike Myer’s film The Love Guru and it was awful.  Some funny parts, but awful.

As we were walking out to Sepulveda and Ventura we saw this, a 6 story high water fountain that was once a fire hydrant.

Tacos - Sunset Style

pinches-tacos

Today has been one of those days where I feel like I have hit all corners of LA. Downtown, the Westside, SFV, Pasadena, SFV, etc. Meetings and the like have taken us around town today. I would actually be hitting the South Bay as well, but I can’t make training with Hollywood United tonight. With all this running around, Ace, Dunny and I found a little bit of time to try out Pinches Tacos on Sunset. I hadn’t been there before, but I wanted to give it a whirl based on the name alone. I think it almost put Ace and Dunny into a food coma, but it was actually pretty good.

The Chateau Marmont makes for a nice backdrop
