The Wifey and I headed down the street to grab a 12″ at Vitello’s off Woodman and Ventura before catching the second week of Entourage and True Blood.
It started with a breeze, going through LAX’s check-in and security within 10 minutes (yes, 10 minutes), then running into Claudio Suarez and Ante Razov getting off the plane from their trip to Beantown.
Then I got into to Dallas and everything started to go to hell in a hand basket as Hurricane Ike has started to screw up air travel and ended up at the Crown Plaza in Seacaucus at 12.30am….. Thankfully the nicest woman in the world gave me a free Corona at the bar!
Last night we gathered some of the crew and headed out to one of our favorite restaurants for Ace’s birthday before finishing the night at one of our locals. Nothing like hanging with friends and celebrating. Good night out with the fam and a good celebration.
After dinner we decided to head to a cool little bar for a quick drink. We get in, go sit down and realize there is a dude sitting next to us sporting a Bumpy Pitch Detroit Express t-shirt. We ask a couple questions about the shirt, end up chatting with him and his girl, and it turns out to be Stacy Keibler and Geoff Stults.
Tonight I end up getting a text from our boy Toby (good looking out!) up in the Bay Area saying he saw some dude on TMZ wearing one of our shirts. Long story short it turns out to be our new friends. Perfectly random and perfectly LA.
Oh, and Stacy and Geoff were as cool and nice as can be. Good looking out Geoff! Check out the video here.
AEG Chief Executive Officer Tim Leiweke and the LA Galaxy have accepted the resignation of Head Coach Ruud Gullit, with Cobi Jones stepping up as Interim Head Coach effective immediately ahead of Thursday night’s SuperClasico.
General Manager Alexi Lalas was also fired in the shuffle, whose contract was set to expire at the end of the season. Tom Payne, the teams Assistant GM will take over Lalas’ duties for now, with Director of Player Personnel Paul Bravo assisting Payne.
With Gullit throwing his LA crib up on the market just at the end of last month and Darth Leiweke making a throwdown appearance in the Galaxy locker room last week, was this really any surprise?
Gullit said in the Galaxy’s Press Release, “In truth, it has proved a lot more difficult than I anticipated for my family to settle in the area and the club has been very supportive and understanding of my decision. I would like to thank the players and the fans for their fantastic support and I wish the LA Galaxy much success in the future. I would now like to spend some time with my family before considering any other position in football.”
As for Lalas, Leiweke said, “With Ruud moving on, we believe that this is the right time to make more sweeping changes throughout the organization. Our commitment continues to be focused on not only winning the MLS Cup this and every season but to build a club capable of competing at the international level. This decision is the right one for the organization, the right one for the players and the right one for our fans. We thank Alexi for the tremendous hard work and dedication he brought to his job each and every day.”
Wonder what Vegas has for odds on The Bruce for Head Coach or GM? I’m thinking the latter might be in the cards…

This project, Random Elements was started over a year ago with Kimo overlaying multiple pictures (like cracks in the sidewalk for example) over each other.

I gotta head back downtown to check up once again on the Bumpy Pitch samples. There is one more process that the shirts have to go through, and I need to check up on them before they can take their final step in the process. WithThe X Games in town, and the Staples Center as one of the venues, downtown is popping off right now with events and activity. The Standard Hotel (the picture above is The Standard’s rooftop pool) is at at the center of all of this attention. The hotel has been booked exclusively for athletes and celebrities so you know good times are over flowing there. I have some friends staying at the hotel as they are a part of the festivities, so a quick lunch break at the hotel before heading off to our manufacturer is definitely in order.
