Cristiano Not Going Back?

Cristiano Ronaldo - Just Saying

Sir Alex is saying the Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid saga is all over, but Spanish paper Marca is reporting that Ronaldo is not going to report to Manchester at the end of the week as he is required to do.

Remember when I was just saying?

This is so far from being over in my opinion, especially when Madrid is saying that van der Vaart is their last and only major signing of the summer.

You Are My Solskjaer, My Only Solkskjaer

Filed under: Man Utd, Ole Gunna Solskjaer

He came close to dropping two dimes like he did in the old days, but it was still the perfect sending off match for Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

As per the usual for a testimonial match, all gate receipts went to the Norwegian hitman (Thank You Danny - All the gate receipts/program sales have gone to Unicef’s ‘Schools for Africa’ project. The £2mill will build 10 schools, not line Ole’s pocket) as Manchester United beat La Liga side Espanyol 1-nil with a team that was made up of a mixture of first team and reserve team players.

Solskjaer is now the head coach of Man U’s Reserve Team.

The Reluctant Star - Paul Scholes

Filed under: Interviews, Man Utd, Paul Scholes

Ian Ladyman with the Daily Mail has an incredible look at the depth and reluctance of Manchester United’s Ginger Prince, Paul Scholes.

From the man that walked away from the English National Team to the guy the won his Second Champions League Medal (although he doesn’t count the first because he didn’t play in it due to yellow card suspension), Scholesy’s legend might end with the guy who did his business (and did it quite well day in and day out) and went home.

This is the type of person that can be respected regardless of club or country allegiance’s.

paul-ot-1

This is Paul, aka Paulie Walnuts, my homie from North London who is going to start contributing around here sometimes. Paul is a lifelong Gooner fan, so we have been known to have some pretty fierce discussions pitting his Arsenal against beloved United.  As a sign of the potential apocalypse, Paul took a trip to Old Trafford and seemingly fell in love with thei history, passion and all that of Manchester United. This picture serves as evidence that my buddy Paul is secretly a Man United fan! Stay tuned for some first hand accounts from Paul coming soon, and check out more pictures from his trip to Old Trafford after the jump.

Just Saying…

Filed under: Cristiano Ronaldo, Man Utd, Rumors

It’s been well documented that Beans and I are longtime United supporters, so it pains me to say this.

I have a feeling we’re going to hear something pretty huge in the next week or so regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future, especially if Robinho ends up in Chelsea blue (think financing).

Now I’m going to go throw up…

The Complex Magazine blog  is a favorite of ours as they explore a variety of the lifestyle issues we pay attention to. Every week they have aTrendhumper post, where they showcase a specific style item and ask their readers to Hump It or Dump It. Today, the Trendhumper asks whether or not soccer jerseys are something that their readers would rock. For those of us that have been rocking soccer jerseys our whole lives this is a simple question, but what about those that haven’t or are not really soccer fans. What are their feelings on football kits as a style item?

In the picture above you can see Pusha T from The Clipse rocking the all black Man United jersey from the “Fast Life” video.  Click here to vote on the trend. After the jump check out the video.

Fergie Opens Up On Ronaldo

Filed under: Cristiano Ronaldo, Man Utd, Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson has finally spoken at length about the summer’s biggest story, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Admitting that he flew to Portugal to meet with the player last week, Ferguson seemed happy with the face to face sit down and has reiterated his stance that Ronaldo will be going nowhere soon.

Via SkySports

“The meeting went well - I think we both put across our points of view - where we stand and where the player stands.”I can say he’ll be a Manchester United player next season. That’s our stance - he won’t be sold.”

Asked why he had not commented on the matter until now, Ferguson replied: “It’s not a difficult position. I was on my holiday and I was not going to interrupt my holiday, believe me.

Hargreaves Stays Behind

Filed under: Man Utd, Owen Hargreaves, Pre-Season

Owen Hargreaves

Owen Hargreaves has been ruled out of Sir Alex Ferguson’s pre-season trip to South Africa after suffering a recurrence of knee injury that has been bothering him since his big time 20.2 Million Pound transfer from Bayern Munich last summer.

The injury limited the Canadian born midfielder to just 23 appearances over the 2007/08 season and there is a worry that this could be something that will have to be addressed throughout the rest of his career.

United is off on a 10 day tour of South Africa that is meant to promote that upcoming 2009 Confederation Cup and the 2010 World Cup.
