John Terry to Man City Intensifies

Filed under: Chelsea, John Terry, Manchester City, Mark Hughes, Transfer News

john-terry

So the John Terry to Manchester City saga continues.  After keeping quiet up to this point about the whole thing, Man City bossman, Mark Hughes, has let his feelings be known about the whole situation.

“We would like to think we could offer John a different challenge,” Hughes said. “He’s been at Chelsea a long time and I know from my own experience as a player that when you have been with a club for a long time you get to a point when you think you need a new challenge and that a change of scenery would re-ignite certain things within you.

“It is not a question of finance, or money, it is about a different challenge, and John being at a different stage in his life and his career, and maybe that is why there hasn’t been a response [to commit himself to Chelsea] because John is seriously thinking in those terms. I went through that process myself as a player and I can understand if that is the way he is thinking.”

Mark Hughes trying to appeal to the “challenge for a player” side of John Hughes? Does this sort of thing have any sway on how JT, aka “Mr. Chelsea,” goes about making his decision to stay or go?

Robinho

Manchester City and Mark Hughes are getting more and more press in the last two weeks, albeit probably not the type they were looking for.  Now it’s showtime after Hughes has acknowledged that the 32.5 Million Pound summer signing Robinho walked out of their Tenerife camp without permission and headed back to Brazil.

City Draws 30 Mil Against Future Television Revenue

Filed under: Manchester City, Mark Hughes, Money, TV

UPDATE - Damn, this is just getting uglier and uglier.

Now Ukranian club Shaktar Donetsk have reported Manchester City to FIFA over the 475,ooo Pound still owed to them over the transfer last summer of Brazilian Elano.

A spokesman for FIFA said: ‘We can confirm Donetsk have lodged a claim with FIFA regarding this matter. As the relevant procedure will start in due course, we can’t provide further comments for the time being.’

Reports out of the Ukraine are suggesting City still owe 3.1 for this summer’s payment, but that check is in the mail.

Mark Hughes

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has been given a boost in the transfer kitty market after a 30 Million Pound injection of cash as the Premiership side drew against their future television earnings.

If you’re wondering how risky this decision might be, then you’re spot on as once a club is relegated, their television earnings are depleted significantly.

From Mark Hughes’ capture from Blackburn, the failed signing of Ronaldinho, Thai owner Thaskin Sinawatra’s money and legal trouble, injuries that led to the depletion of Hughes’ offense (Benjani, Vassell, Bianchi and Bojinov all out) and a Uefa Cup loss at home to Danish side FC Midtjylland, this just keep getting worse for the baby blue of Manchester.

Wonder how long this will go before the English FA steps in?

Sparky To City Confirmed - Sven Gets 1 Million Euro To Walk

Filed under: Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Mark Hughes, Sven Goran Erickson

TRIPLE UPDATE -  Looks like ol’ Sparky really likes himself some Brad Friedel.

If this does go down I’m just wondering what’s going to happen to the development of Joe Hart?  Hart’s one of the best English keepers as it is and would be a huge blow to the young keepers future.

And is Friedel worth 3 Million?  As of right now Friedel is the longest serving member at Ewood Park, signing with Blackburn at the end of the 2000 Olympics in Australia after leaving Premiership side Liverpool.

DOUBLE UPDATE - While Sven has gotten his compensation package from City, Blackburn has officially allowed Hughes and City to open negotiations.

It’s going to cost City 5 Million Euros for Sparky.
UPDATE - Seems as though Thaksin Shinawatra really wants a new coach after handing out a Million Euro payoff to Sven.

Must be nice. Must be nice.

Mark Hughes

It’s being reported in both the major newspapers in England that Mark Hughes is heading towards Manchester City after Blackburn has allowed contact with the manager.

If this is true, then you’d have to think that Svenny is going to get the big job in Mexico right? Maybe not!

So who’d get Blackburn if Hughes leaves? Sam Allardyce?

Does Ryan Nelsen and Brad Friedel follow?
