I don’t know the validity of this source, but La Opinion is hinting that discussions are underway for a March 22nd US vs Mexico clash at the Coliseum in Los Angeles.
Bottles of the soon to be sold “10 Marado” beer, sit at the “Cerveceria Revolucion” brewery in Guadalajara, Mexico Monday, Oct. 26, 2009. The beer, named after Argentina’s soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona, is part of the brewery’s market strategy to name beers honoring sports icons and other celebrities. The company plans to send a letter to the soccer star explaining the project in hopes of selling the beer in Argentina.
Sitting here watching Man U/Liverpool and thought I’d remind everybody there are two other great derbys to catch today. One is the Mexican clasico between Chivas and America and the other is the Super Clasico in Argentina between Boca and River. River/Boca is on at 12:15 PST and Chivas/America is at 3:30 PST. GREAT DAY!!
By the way Torres just showed why he leads the EPL in goals and why he might be the best forward in the world. Timing, balance, strength, and a quality finish!
I don’t think I’ve seen this before, but the Mexico v El Salvador World Cup Qualifier was stopped for more than six minutes today due to s swarm of bees. According to Reuters:
The World Cup qualifier between Mexico and El Salvador was halted after three minutes on Saturday due to a swarm of bees inside the visitors’ goal. The match was stopped for more than six minutes while officials sprayed the area around the goalposts of El Salvador keeper Miguel Montes to clear the bees.
The game was in the penultimate round of fixtures in the CONCACAF regional qualifying group for the World Cup finals in South Africa next June.
When I first heard about this swarm of bees, I immediately thought of Wu Tang. Hit the jump for an all time classic hip hop video.
Former Chivas USA forward Paco Palencia (and one of the nicest / most hardworking dudes I’ve ever had the pleasure of being around) has been recalled to the Mexican National by head coach Javier Aguirre and added to the roster for their final two World Cup Qualification matches against El Salvador at home and Trinidad & Tobago on the road.
Needing just three points to qualify during their two upcoming matches against El Salvador at home and Trinidad & Tobago on the road, Head Coach Javier Aguirre has announced his 20 man roster that welcomes back Rafa Marquez but loses Gio Dos Santos due to an ankle injury.
Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa (America), Jesus Corona (Cruz Azul)
