Friday night at the Home Depot Center was definitely one of the most interesting soccer games I have been to. As you all know, there were two blackouts that caused serious delays for the game. Its’ not something you see a whole lot in professional sports, although I heard some people in the stadium talking about how it happens at baseball games sometimes. I will tell you this, we saw quite a few people in suits running around frantically in the dark.
All in all it was a great night for soccer. The conditions were perfect, the crowd was festive and we were able to catch up with a lot of friends as well as be present for a memorable night in MLS history.

Gregg Berhalter and Landon Donovan scored in overtime to put the Galaxy into MLS Cup final with a 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Friday night.
The Galaxy will play in their first MLS Cup final since 2005 in Seattle on Nov. 22 against the winner of Saturday’s Eastern Conference final match between Chicago and Real Salt Lake.Los Angeles will make its sixth MLS Cup final appearance since the league began in 1996. The Galaxy won the MLS championships in 2002 and 2005.
Crazy night in Carson with the late kickoff, two blackouts, added time and a game that ended at almost midnight west coast time.

Sunday afternoon was Game 2 in the MLS Playoffs between the Seattle Sounders and the Houston Dynamo. Robertson Stadium had a real party atmosphere, and the overall attitude was great - as exemplified by this Dynamo Dancer. (more…)
Game two of the LA Galaxy v Chivas USA playoff series took place tonight at the Home Depot Center, so isps and I headed down to take in the action, snaps some photos and link up with some winners from the contest we held with the LA Galaxy. The atmosphere was on point and it was an absolutely perfect night for the beautiful game. Not long after Landon converted the penalty for the game winner, this little dude was in full celebration mode and he was more than happy to show us his love for the Galaxy. He was fully kitted out, had the hand drawn sign of support and even a Galaxy wig. This cat captured the essence of what the sport is about and he gives me great hope for the next generation of soccer fans in the US. With youngsters like this having this kind of passion for the sport, I know that our sport is in good hands. Talk about representing!
