John Terry expects Roman Abramovich to take advantage of the January transfer market and reinforce Chelsea’s squad before the club is banned from trading. Terry believes owner Abramovich will fund new signings for manager Carlo Ancelotti to keep the Premier League leaders on course for their first title since 2006 as injuries and international call-ups take their toll.

Call of Duty: Mondern Warfare 2, Made a lot of money yesterday

Activision Blizzard estimates that it sold about 4.7 million copies of its “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2″ game worth $310 million in the first 24 hours in North America and the United Kingdom, making it the biggest-selling launch in the history of entertainment.

Its Getting Worse for Peter Storrie, now charged with Tax Evasion

Its getting worse for Pedro…from the Daily mail:

Portsmouth Football Club chief executive Peter Storrie has been formally charged with tax evasion.

Prosecutors accused him of concealing a signing-on fee for Amdy Faye by paying it into the midfielder’s bank account during his transfer to the south-coast club from Auxerre in 2003.

Storrie will appear at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court on November 16, a spokesman for HM Revenue and Customs Prosecution Office (RCPO) said.

The alleged £250,000 payment - relating to the player’s transfer to Portsmouth for £1.5m - was made between July 1, 2003 and August 12, 2005. (more…)

Hull City Accountants Warn Club Over Finances

Hull City’s accountants have warned that the club will need to raise £23 million in order to balance the books should they suffer relegation from the top flight this season. A report from accounts Deloitte, which was filed five months late, largely addresses the club’s finances from their promotion campaign in 2007-08 but also advises the Tigers as to how to manage their financial situation in the months ahead. Brazil State Bank Ready to Make it Rain for 2014 World Cup Stadiums

Brazil’s state development bank BNDES said it will provide up to 4.8 billion reais (US$2.77 billion) for work on the 12 stadia that will stage matches in the 2014 World Cup, despite a promise from organisers that public funds would only be needed for infrastructure. (more…)
