The Columbus Crew’s Duncan Oughton has gotten the recall to New Zealand’s Full National Team for their upcoming Home and Home World Cup Qualifying matches against New Caledonia on September 6th and September 10th.
The call up is his first in 2008 and Oughton will be looking to build upon the 2 goals in 18 appearances.
New Zealand currently sit atop the group with 9 points, followed by New Caledonia with 8 points and Fiji and Vanuata tied with 1 point each.
Oughton’s last appearance with the All Whites was an International Friendly at Wales where he went the full 90 and assisted on New Zealand’s opening goal, earning rave reviews from Martin O’Neill.
UPDATE - Nelsen has returned from his Over-Age Olympic duty with New Zealand after their 5 - nil demolition at the hands of Brazil.
Now back at Ewood Park after his agreement with the Guv’na, Nelly’s focus will now be on Blackburn’s opening fixture at Everton.
Former DC United and current Blackburn Rovers Captain Ryan Nelsen has been given the all clear by new manager Paul “the Guv’na” Ince to represent New Zealand at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Yes, there’s a bit of a catch. Nelsen must be back at Ewood Park by August 16th which is their opening day match against Everton.
Nelsen will be one of the Kiwi’s three overage (over 23) players and will definitely face China and Brazil before the deadline set by Ince.

Flight of the Conchords is without a doubt one of the best thing to ever come out of New Zealand. Unfortunately no new episodes have aired recently, and there might not be any new ones until 2009. Luckily for all of us they have just released a music video for the song “Ladies of the World.” Jemaine and Bret break out the old school roller skates for this one and show us how much they love the ladies.
