It’s been a long, drawn out affair for Joey Barton and even after being told to stay away from Newcastle’s training ground by Alan Shearer after being sent off during their 3 - nil loss away to Liverpool, the 26 year old has gone public with his desire to remain at the relegated club down in the Championship.

No doubt about his abilities at the highest level, but would a year or two away from the Premiership spotlight help?

Mike Ashley To Finally Sell Newcastle?

According to The Guardian, Newcastle’s last game of the season could be worth £140m for Mike Ashley as there appears to be interest from a Middle East / United states consortium to buy Newcastle should they avoid relegation. Apparently there are also two NBA owners involved in the consortium. There has been lots of talk about Ashley selling Newcastle, and he originally had set a £400m price tag. Obviously no one was willing to spend that kind of loot on Newcastle but if they can remain in the EPL, it sounds as if there is renewed interest in taking over Newcastle.

Alan Shearer Not Happy With Obafemi Martins Injury Situation

Once again Newcastle is in the news for the wrong reasons, this time being that Nigerian International Obafemi Martins missed the Toon’s 1 - 1 result on the road to Stoke after calling in sick after picking up an injury overnight. Unfortunately for interim head coach Alan Shearer, this will be the first time he’s publicly tested as a manager and how he’ll deal with the situation during a time his team is in the midst of a relegation battle.

Kinnear Heading For Heart Surgery?
