FA Charge Joe Kinnear For The Second Time

Filed under: English Football Association, Newcastle

UPDATE - Joe Kinnear is not happy about the charges brought against him and plans to fight.

He said: “I’m going to defend myself against any charge because on this occasion I have done nothing wrong and I’m determined to clear my name.

“I still haven’t been told exactly why I was sent from the dug-out, but I believe it was for supposedly saying something to the linesman.

“I will fight this because I’m frustrated and disappointed it has happened. The thing that I find strange is, I’ve no idea how the linesman has heard what I’ve supposedly said from where he was standing and with all the noise that was going on.

“Chris (Hughton) was having his say and I did say something, I know what I said, but I’ll wait until I have to give my defence before I talk about that any more.

“There was plenty of noise around, the fans behind the linesman were absolutely furious and they were saying plenty to him as well, the whole place went crazy.”

FA Wants Mickey Mouse Apology

Filed under: English Football Association, Newcastle, Sunderland

UPDATE -  Seems like the FA didn’t like what they heard as they have officially charged Newcastle head coach Joe Kinnear with “Improper Conduct”.

Joe Kinnear - Mickey Mouse

After branding Martin Atkinson a “Mickey Mouse referee” following Newcastle’s 2 - 1 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage, the English Football Association has chosen not to fine manager Joe Kinnear and instead has warned him of future conduct.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, he said: “[Claudio] Cacapa was on the ball and [Andy] Johnson completely pushes him out the way, nicks the ball and gets the penalty.

Barton Out 8 Weeks

Joey Barton 1

Newcastle Midfielder Joey Barton will be on the sidelines for up to 8 weeks after doctors confirmed a slight tear in his right knee after a 50 - 50 challenge with Wigan’s Lee Cattermole at the weekend.

With fiery midfielder limping off in the 17th minute of the 2 - 2 draw, Barton said after the match “I am not blaming Lee Cattermole in any way for this injury. It was a 50-50 ball and we both went for it, and these things happen.

“Obviously, it’s disappointing and frustrating, and my sole intention is to knuckle down and bounce back and get fit again to help the Newcastle United cause.”

Anschutz Issues Statement Regarding Newcastle

Phillip Anschutz

LA Galaxy, Home Depot Center, LA Kings, Staples Center, O2 Arena and Anschutz Film Group Owner (and trust me, I know I’m missing a lot more) Phillip Anschutz has issued a statement regarding his name being thrown into the ring of possible buyers for Mike Ashley’s Newcastle.

“Neither AEG nor anyone affiliated with the organisation are in negotiations or are contemplating the purchase of Newcastle United Football Club,” said the statement.

Looks like Clark Hunt is staying away as well.

“There’s nothing to it. They’re happy with the sports investments that they currently have. They’re not pursuing Newcastle or any other sports franchise at this time,” said FC Dallas spokesman German Sferra.
