Australia’s Craig Moore Diagnosed With Testicular Cancer

Craig Moore

Former Glasgow Rangers / Newcastle and current Queensland Roar defender Craig Moore underwent surgery yesterday to remove his left testicle after having been diagnosed with Testicular Cancer that was detected early enough to treat.

Withdrawing from the Australian National Team ahead of their game in Bahrain next Thursday after having just returned to the Soceroos after an 8 month retirement (and having previously captained the squad) for the 4 - 0 win over Qatar last month in Brisbane, the soon to be 33 year old is hoping that this would be the last time he was forced to miss a game.

“It’s always a shock to hear of a diagnosis like this but I am encouraged by the prognosis from the medical practitioner,” Australia head coach Pim Verbeek said.

Time to shed a few tears for these guys, right?

Liverpool owner Tom Hicks has 350 million pounds due to the banks in January and everybody is getting very nervous.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is looking to borrow $350 million by December 1st for cost overruns at “JerryWorld” New Cowboys Stadium.

Perhaps FC Dallas owner Clark Hunt is wise to stay away from Newcastle at this point.

Maverick owner Mark Cuban can’t get the Chicago Cubs to take his money.

Joey Barton Facing Another?

Filed under: Aston Villa, English Football Association, Newcastle

UPDATE - Looks like the FA had decided that Barton will face no action following the incident with Agbonlahor.

Joey Barton5

He’s been warned that if he receives another “Violent Conduct” Red Card following his admission of guilt in the Olivier Dabo assault case in which he was ordered to pay a 25 Thousand Pound fine and handed a 6 match suspension, Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton’s other suspended 6 match ban from the case could be invoked by the English Football Association.

After getting their second home win in as many weeks against Aston Villa through Obafemi Martins’ 2 goals, television and print media had a field day with the picture above.

And it can never be good when former Premier League referee Graham Poll throws his hat into the situation saying, “If Steve Bennett had seen the situation you can’t deny he would have sent him off. He actually does strike the opponent.”

Barton said, “Nothing has gone on, people are making a mountain out of a mole hill. With the referee, linesmen, the fourth official and all the television cameras, you know you cannot raise your hands these days – and at no stage have I done that.”

Beye Red Overturned By FA

Filed under: English Football Association, Newcastle

Habib Beye

Newcastle defender Habib Beye has had his straight red card rescinded after winning his appeal to the Football Association after his sending off for a tackle on Robinho inside the 18 yard box by Rob Styles only 12 minutes into the match against Manchester City at St. James Park at the weekend.

While the game ended 2 - 2 and Robinho did finish his spot kick, Beyes availability for Joe Kinnear this weekend has to ease the short term coaches worries ahead of the Magpies clash with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

An FA statement said: “At a regulatory commission hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal from Newcastle United defender Habib Beye was upheld.

“As a result, Beye’s one-match suspension has been withdrawn.”

Keegan Might Be Going After Full Wages

Kevin Keegan Wages

Mike Ashley might have just a few pence less if Kevin Keegan has anything to say about it as there’s talk of the former Newcastle legend going after his full 3 1/2 year wages.

After being sacked / dismissed / the man who walked away from the Geordie’s, the 57 year old’s second stint with the club was thought to be under full control of the Toon legend, only to have Dennis Wise hired on days after Keegan.

With Wise’s appointment as Director of Football, the said general feel of Keegan is that Ashley’s hiring infringed on the contract agreed upon with Keegan.

If that is the case, the DailyMail is reporting that Keegan could make the move of going after the 9 Million Pound owed for the length of the contract.
