With Gooch and the boys walking into Anfield at nil - nil after the first leg, many thought Standard Liege would get absolutely hammered.

With 43,889 watching in disbelief as Liverpool couldn’t break down the Liege defense for the second 90 minutes in as many weeks, Dutchman Dirk Kuyt forced the ball past Rorys Aragon in the 118th minute to give Liverpool the 1 - nil win (1 - nil on aggregate).

With Gooch keeping Fernando Torres quiet for most of the night, all that speculation of the big man heading elsewhere in the upcoming days must be at a boiling point after tonight’s performance.

Anderlecht v Standard Liege For Belgian Super Cup

UPDATE -  Gooch scored the opening two goals off corner kicks today as Standard Liege took the Belgian Super Cup with a 3-1 win over Anderlecht.

Saturday afternoon is a huge day in the world of Belgian football as Cup holders Anderlecht take on last seasons League Champions Standard Liege for the Belgian Super Cup.

With Anderlecht holding the cup for the last two season (with Liege being the runners-up in 2007), Oguchi Onyewu and the boys will look to top them and take away the title, similar to they way they did with the Jupiler League Championship last season when they ended with a 7 point lead to top the team from Brussels.
