Jay-Z to Curate and Star in Two-Day Music Festival in Philadelphia

It is expected to be announced that Jay-Z will be the curator of and headlining performer at the first Budweiser Made in America music festival, a two-day event that will bring (as seen on the life+times page) nearly 30 Artists on 3 Stages in 1 Weekend :: September 1 & 2, Philadelphia.

The festival, which will be produced by Live Nation, is to be formally unveiled at a Monday morning news conference with Jay-Z and Mayor Michael A. Nutter of Philadelphia and will assemble an eclectic lineup of “rock, hip-hop, R&B, Latin and dance” musicians, according to a news release from its organizers.

Major League Soccer announced on Tuesday that Philadelphia will be the stage for the 2012 AT&T MLS All-Star Game on July 25 at 8 p.m. ET, bringing the summer’s showcase event to PPL Park, where the Sons of Ben will welcome a yet unnamed opponent to take on the best MLS has to offer.

Joining MLS Commissioner Don Garber for the announcement at City Hall were Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Union CEO Nick Sakiewicz and City of Chester Mayor John Linder. The last All-Star game held in Philadelphia was the NBA’s in 2002.

“Philadelphia has a deep tradition of playing and supporting soccer, and the huge, enthusiastic fan base of the Philadelphia Union is a great success story for Major League Soccer,” Garber said in a statement. “The 2012 AT&T All-Star Game will be a great opportunity to celebrate Philadelphia’s soccer fans while giving viewers around the globe a glimpse of their passion.”
