Mindless Afternoon Break

fail-seedless

I haven’t checked in over at Fail Blog in a minute. They always have a handful of random pictures that crack me up, and this is definitely one of them.  I really want to know who put this sticker on the bag.

Former US Soccer Foundation President Joins Freddie Mac

john-oskinen

With the financial markets in tatters and a global credit crisis in full effect, Freddie Mac has turned to the former director of the United States Soccer Foundation, John A. Koskinen, to help them right the ship. Who exactly is Mr. Koskinen, well he is the dude in the picture above that is hanging with Becks (the cat on Beckham’s left).  This might sound selfish, and I know this is a very random post (we got you covered with randomness), but I like seeing soccer fans in positions of power and influence. Makes me happy…

Top Ten Reasons I Should’ve Played Soccer

10. two words: orange wedges

9. you can yell at the referees all you want and they never do anything about it

8. two more words baby: SNOT ROCKET!!!

7. Soccer squads have the best nicknames

Crazy GangLa Maquina … and my personal favorite Cabbage and Ribs

6. You can be a regular sized human being and still play the game at the highest level

5. Soccer boots are way hotter these days than basketball shoes - soccer cleats ARE the new basketball shoes, 195 bucks really!? the only problem is you cant wear them to kick it with some jeans…

4. Awesome fans and the stadiums are cathedrals - the chants, the singing, the toilet paper bombs.. i love it! i mean, i like going to the Staples Center more than anyone but England and Old Trafford, done and done

3. If you are really good .. .you can make a ton of money, be huge all over the world and be totally anonymous in America - unless you are Becks of course

2. If you play your cards right, and you are good enough… you get to live in Europe after high school and don’t have to go to college

1. WAGS - This is the whole reason for this post… NBA and NFL get attractive girls, but euro soccer stars change girls like its going out of style … if i gotta see one more post of Cristiano with his shirt off and some hott topless chick I’m going to go crazy

Carly Zucker - Joe Cole … I’m going to say that Joe Cole is the winner in my book! what do you think?

Just A Random Thought

Filed under: Luciano Emilio, Random, US National Team

Luciano Emilio

As I’m sitting here watching the SuperLiga match between DC United vs Atlante, I was reminded of a conversation that I had last Thursday with a friend.

Hypothetical questions -

1. If you had a guy that scored 30 times in 44 matches at the highest level in the states, would you call him up to the US National Team?  I’d say so.

2. What if his team won the 2007 Supporter’s Shield, he won the Golden Boot and was named to the Best XI?  Again, yes.

3. 10 goals and 2 assists in 15 matches in 2008?  Yes one more time.

4. What if his name was Luciano Emilio and he hasn’t been capped by Brazil?  Hmmmmmm, now it’s become interesting hasn’t it.

At 29 years of age, Emilio would be more of a David Regis type of player (think 1998 World Cup) rather than a Thomas Dooley type of player (meaning time line, not positioning) when it comes possible citizenship status.

The guy’s proven that he can score goals throughout stops in Germany, Spain, Honduras and now the United States.

Imagine Bob Bradley having a guy like Emilio at his disposal during World Cup Qualifying.  Add in Donovan, Altidore, Dempsey, Johnson and Ching….

Just a random thought.

The Wolf’s Lair

Everyday I read through a ton of different sites looking for new info and what not. Every once in awhile I check in over at Baller House and see what they have going on.  About once a week or so they will put some houses up on the site that are for sale and that come with some serious price tags. The houses are usually in incredible locations around the world and are some on other level type houses. Today I came across this house on their site that is on the market for $7.5 million and is up Beechwood Canyon not far from Lake Hollywood.  The crazy thing for me about this house is I went to a party there a few years back with my boy Ray. While at the party, we saw our friends Ima Robot perform and got to drink some burgundy with E-40 while getting a lesson in his own unique vocabulary. The party was off the hook and the house was unforgettable. If you have an extra $7.5 million and are looking for an incrdible house to throw parties at, this might be for you.

Universal Studios Fire

Filed under: Fire, Random, Universal Studios

Early Sunday morning I headed to Burbank Airport to pick up Dunny. He did the RSL v San Jose game on Saturday and got to spend some quality time with his wifey’s fam back in SLC. When I went to pick him there was a massive fire at the Universal Studios lot and these are a couple images. There were fire trucks, ambulances and police cars everywhere. We even saw a super old school looking paramedic truck which reminded us of the TV show which I actually think might have been filmed on the Universal lot.

With the huge fire going on, the park stayed open and the MTV Awards still went on. Our boy Ray was actually at the MTV Awards so I’ll see if I can get a little insider info about what it was like with a massive fire right around the corner from the awards show.

True Horsepower

Filed under: Cool Ish, Random, WTF

Horse Power

This guy, Abdolhadi Mirhejazi of Dubai, built a true Horse Powered Treadmill Auto that runs solely on the energy produced from a horse walking.

It does have a battery included that is usable, but that’s only if Abdolhadi starts to have a conscience and decides to give the horse a break.
