Eric Cantona Will Hope This Isn’t True

Raymond Domenech

After publicly stinging the French set up, Eric “the Great” Cantona will not be happy after picking up today’s paper as the French Federation’s President Jean-Pierre Escalettes has somewhat surprisingly announced that Raymond Domenech will stay on in his job as France head coach, provided he make a few change.

We’ve already seen what Domenech can do with a squad that many think should be obvious contenders for whatever competition their placed in, but with so many players on the outs with a coach that has some serious issues behind the scenes many have wondered when Domenech would step down or at the very least be forced to.

I’m still surprised he got out of the stadium after that 2008 Euro performance.

Can Domenech pull his head out?

Raymond Domenech

With France’s International Friendly against England set and a “B” game scheduled as well, you’d think that head coach Raymond Domenech would call up a player that has scored 16 Serie A goals, right?

Wrong.  Juventus’ David Trezeguet, a man who has represented France 70 times and scored 34 times was again left out of the squad, but this time is just a slap in the face.

See, Domenech has called up 39 players to be involved in both matches and besides the heroic year that Lyon’s Karim Benzema has had with 17 goals in Ligue 1, you’d think that it would be a no brainer that the 30 year old would be an automatic call in on form alone.

Wonder what happened behind closed doors?
