Real Salt Lake once again is getting it done up on the turf at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Just got back from the Real Salt Lake at Columbus Crew match that ended 3-nil in Columbus’ favor.
After the match I met up with FC Uptown to grab a few beers with the boys (Dante, Holly, Duncs, Carly, Tommy Presthus, etc) at Bar Louie downtown.
Now it’s up in two hours for the cross-country trip back to LA to get back in time for the return leg of the Spanish Super Cup between Valencia at Real Madrid for a noon call time at the FSC studios.
Third time this MLS season that I’ve headed out to my old stomping grounds in C-bus, and Saturday night is the Real Salt Lake at Columbus Crew match.
More pics after the Jump…
Got in around 9pm, headed over to Cabo’s for a couple fish tacos and went straight to bed.
Woke up and hit the gym at 7.30am to get a little work out in before sitting in front of my miniature television watching Argentina v Holland. Production meetings at 9.30am, so I think I’m going to miss the end of the second half.
Real Salt Lake at Houston tonight in a battle for 1st place in the West and then back to bed before a 5.30am flight to get back to Los Angeles for tomorrow afternoon’s Spanish Super Cup (think Spanish Community Shield) between La Liga winner Real Madrid and King’s Cup (Copa del Rey) winner Valencia at 1 pm West Coast.
On the way to Houston for tomorrow nights Real Salt Lake at Houston Dynamo match at Robertson Stadium.
And yes, the Phoenix Airport smells like a bowling alley.
Just got this pic sent over from Branden Steineckert via Nick Rimando.. He just wanted to let everyone know where his true support lies.. Real and The Hooligans..
Showing some love for my hometown team….

Yesterday Beans threw up this picture of Rancid’s Branden Steineckert wearing a DC warm-up at the Team Shop when he was in town for last night’s Rancid concert at the 9:30 Club.
Now I didn’t want to get too involved in this, BUT…….
Here’s Branden representing his true colors.
See, I was fortunate enough to play with Branden and The Hooligans (big shout to the boys!) last winter up in the Salt Lake area with Nick Rimando, so I knew as soon as I saw those pics that something was wrong, especially considering the season tickets he’s got.
And Lars might be a San Jose supporter BUT his heart with always be Millwall!
Almost ready for the curtain drop…. The boys over at Behind the Shield are getting excited.
Well that didn’t take long for Rafael van der Vaart to make his mark in the number 18 jersey on his debut. A free kick goal and an assist off a free kick on Pepe’s goal to lead Real Madrid over Colombian side Independiente Santa Fe.
Every Real Salt Lake fan has their heads in their hands knowing this was the game that was to be played in Salt Lake at the weekend.
But don’t fret, my money’s on the 2009 All-Star game.
Interview with Bernd Schuster y Raul after the Jump…
If you ever want to have your ass kicked on a hike and are in the Salt Lake area, I highly suggest the Mount Olympus hike.
