I got a call from our boy Josh over at Red Bull on Saturday inviting us down to the Kanye West show at The Staples Center. So Ace and I headed down and were able to see one of the most talked about and hyped concerts I can remember hearing about in a long time.
With so much hype and praise that I had heard leading up to this show, it was hard to go in open minded. But the show did not disappoint. Kanye puts all of himself into the show and you can tell how important this is too him. He gets hated on for his cockiness, but the dude wants to be the best that ever lived, and I can’t fault him for that. Why not strive for greatness?
One of the things about the whole experience that stood out to me, aside from the performances, was the crowd. I have been to a ton of concerts in my life, and I’m not sure if I have ever been to one with such a diverse and hip crowd. It seemed to me that people from every race, color, culture etc was representing at the show, and that is a statement as to how powerful music can be. Hats off to Kanye, Lupe, N.E.R.D. and Rihanna for a great show and big thanks to Josh and Red Bull for inviting us down to the suite for this one!
