Nobby Solano

Filed under: LA Galaxy, Nobby Solano, Rumors

nobby-solano

There has been lots of talk about Nobby Solano signing with the Galaxy after being released by West Ham. Nobby, who was the first Peruvian to play in the Premier League has had some great years playing in England and I have a feeling we could see this one wrapped up pretty soon. If the Galaxy do pull this one off, it would be quite a coup. After the jump, check out some highlights of Nobby from his time with Newcastle.

Just Saying…

Filed under: Cristiano Ronaldo, Man Utd, Rumors

It’s been well documented that Beans and I are longtime United supporters, so it pains me to say this.

I have a feeling we’re going to hear something pretty huge in the next week or so regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future, especially if Robinho ends up in Chelsea blue (think financing).

Now I’m going to go throw up…

Riquelme To Atletico Madrid?

Filed under: Atletico Madrid, Boca Juniors, Juan Roman Riquelme, Rumors

With all the talk surrounding fellow Argentine and current Atletico Madrid forward Sergio “Kun” Aguero heading to Manchester United, Atletico head coach Javier Aguirre has revealed his interest in one of the best / most underrated players on the face of this planet, Juan Roman Riquelme.

After getting royally shafted during his last stop in Spain with Villareal and Chilean head coach Manuel Pellrgrini, Riquelme has been killing it with his Boca Juniors, winning the 2007 Copa Libertadores (and the MVP of the tournament) on loan before making the move final in January of this year.

Since the transfer window has opened, Atletico has been making some impressive moves ahead of their 2008/09 Champions League campaign.  So why not try and sign a true playmaker that already has the International pedigree, can create passes, space and opportunities that very few have the ability to do?

Robbie Keane To Never Walk Alone?

Filed under: Robbie Keane, Rumors, Tottenham

This is the time that managers are wheeling and dealing, so it’s no surprise that a proposed Peter Crouch to Tottenham move has 28 year old Robbie Keane’s (who scored 23 goals in all competitions) name going the other way.

I would do this in a heart beat as it would make sense for both clubs, as long at Juande Ramos can keep hold of Dimitar Berbatov at White Hart Lane.

Robinho In Chelsea Link?

Robinho

We all knew that when Luiz Felipe Scolari took over at Chelsea there would be changes.

With all the hoopla surrounding the possible Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid transfer, Robinho’s agent Vagner Ribiero has publicly admitted to meeting with Chelsea’s Sporting Director Frank Arnesen in London about their desire to sign the player if possible.

Obviously the Brazilian isn’t happy about his name being thrown around in a possible switch to Manchester United if the Ronaldo deal does go down, but with a player like Joe Cole already succeeding with the Blues and Robinho falling into that style, then a Brazilian coaching the Brazilian would make sense at Stamford Bridge.

The Pit Bull To LA Galaxy?

Filed under: Edgar Davids, LA Galaxy, Rumors

UPDATE -  Hmmm.. Why would a guy like Edgar Davids come to LA to train in the off-season?  Just for fitness purposes?

Edgar Davids

Doubtful.

Edgar Davids

After seeing the end of his contract through at Ajax, rumors are starting to swirl around Edgar Davids and his relationship with LA Galaxy boss man Ruud Gullit.

If there was any chance to snap up a guy like Davids, you’ve got to think that LA would be all over it.

The problem though (as it’s always been and always will be) is how they’ll fit him under the salary cap. And if they can fit him under, who will they have to give up in return?

Starting To Get Ugly - The Cristiano Ronaldo Saga

Filed under: Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid, Rumors

TRIPLE UPDATE -  FIFA has officially confirmed that they will not punish Real Madrid over Manchester United’s complaint of “tapping up” Cristiano Ronaldo.

“From the documentation received, no breach of contract appears to have occurred yet,” FIFA said in a statement.

“Therefore, in accordance with the applicable practice, no kind of formal procedure has been opened by FIFA regarding this matter.”

DOUBLE UPDATE - Poor Cristiano..

Not only has he been photographed with Real Madrid Fitness Coach Walter Di Salvo in Rome, but it doesn’t look good for his current club Manchester United’s desire to have FIFA punish Real Madrid for unsettling the Portuguese winger.

With the announcement of Scolari going to Chelsea in the middle of the 2008 Euros, you’ve got to think there will be more news coming out of the Portugal camp as the tournament progresses.

UPDATE - Now it’s looking like Ramom Calderon will fight this charge to the death after insisting that Manchester United have no evidence that Real Madrid have acted inappropriately in their pursuit of Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Doesn’t it always seem like Madrid’s “unsettling” a player through their “admiration” of players?

Cristiano Ronaldo

It’s starting…. But it looks like Manchester United isn’t going to lose Cristiano Ronaldo without a fight.

Today United filed an official complaint with FIFA over Real Madrid’s public courting of the Portuguese winger, but kept it’s contents private.

You’ve got to think with Ronaldo’s refusal to publicly display his loyalty to Sir Alex and Man Utd that his intentions (don’t forget about Nereida Gallardo) are to become the latest Galactico.

My question is if Cristiano is allowed to make this move to Madrid, will he get his image rights in the deal? You know that Madrid will make their money back in jersey sales and marketing alone, but how much are they willing to drop up front?

If Ronaldo does declare his intentions to head to Spain, then you’d think that maybe it’d be worth the sale in terms of the amount of money you’d have coming in, but where do you spend it?

I’d go for Benzema, Ribery and Henry just to name a few.

Ronaldo and Portugal take on Czech Republic on Wednesday in their 2nd match of Group A.

Manchester United After Brek Shea?

Filed under: Brek Shea, Man Utd, Rumors

Remember when I was telling you that the Toulon Tournament would give opportunities to players to be seen by big clubs throughout Europe.

While the United States didn’t have the best of showings, Brek Shea did himself more justice than most with his play out on the left flank and up top, causing problems and running at defenders with confidence.

Now we’ll see if this interest from Manchester United has any legs to it.

Take 30K Pound A Week Or Face The Sack - Barton Edition

Filed under: Joey Barton, Newcastle, Rumors

Joey Barton

Newcastle’s fiery midfielder Joey Barton has reportedly been told to take half his wages or face the sack, according to ESPN.

Barton is already serving a 6 months after pleading guilty to assault and affray after his 5.8 Million Pound switch from Manchester City to Newcastle, but has supposedly been told that he’ll have to take ONLY 30 K a week to continue with Fog on the Tynes.

Does anyone else think Barton might be the latest, much smaller version of Gazza?

Carvalho Wants Talks With Chelsea About Future

Filed under: Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, Ricardo Carvalho, Rumors

Ricardo Carvalho

While Cristiano Ronaldo is holing up in the Portuguese camp, Ricardo Carvalho is an open book and letting everyone know his intentions.

Carvalho has publicly admitted his desire to reunite with his gaffer, Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan and has decided to hold talks with Chelsea’s Peter Kenyon over his future at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea paid 19.85 Million Pound to Porto for Carvalho’s services back in 2004 after winning the Champions League under Mourinho.
