With stories linking Carlos Tevez to every team in the world, and dude coming through in some serious clutch moments recently, Sir Alex ferguson is now saying that a permanent £22m deal deal has been offered to the Argentine hitman. Although Kia Joorabchian denies these allegations, Sir Alex insists that talks are happening, and that the fact that they “are not dealing with a football club” is a part of the problem. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the upcoming weeks.

The Telegraph is linking a Carlos Tevez move to teams ranging from AC Milan, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Chelsea Man city and Tottenham. I’m sure no Man United fan wants to see Tevez leave, but damn that is an impressive list of teams looking to sign him.

Despite internet rumors, sources tell the NY Post that the New York Red Bulls are NOT for sale.

BTW, there will be a ceremony tomorrow in Hoboken marking the last piece of steel being installed at Red Bull Arena.

A professional football league will experiment with using additional assistant referees behind each goal next season.

UEFA president Michel Platini said the latest move by IFAB would ensure the rule changes are part of football by the 2012 European Championship in Poland and Ukraine. For that to happen, IFAB would have to approve the change at its 125th meeting in March 2011.

UPDATE - ‘Following further scans and examination, Jermain Defoe will undergo surgery tomorrow after suffering a stress fracture in his right foot,’ read a statement from Spurs.

‘Contrary to newspaper reports that Jermain may have been carrying the injury undetected at the time of his rejoining the Club, the injury, to the fifth metatarsal, was sustained post signing during a training session in the indoor arena.

Jermain is likely to be out for up to ten weeks.’

Reports coming out of England tonight are that recent returnee, Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has injured his metatarsal during a training ground challenge ahead of Saturday’s game at Bolton.

UPDATE -  Manchester City and Newcastle are reported to have agreed on what is believed to be an 8 Million Pound fee for Given and the Republic of Ireland keeper has undergone a medical at The Eastlands.

With all of the uncertainty that has surrounded Newcastle United over the course of the last year or so, one it’s longest serving members could be on his way out after an admission of reaching the “lowest point of his football career.”
