Kansas City At San Jose Earthquakes
Filed under: Highlights, Kansas City Wizards, San Jose
Wow, Huckerby was significantly offsides on that second goal for the Earthquakes.
(Thanks to Sean for the heads up on this picture)
Watch out for the Earthquakes…. Tied for 4th place with the LA Galaxy in the Western Conference and only 7 points behind the Houston Dynamo for first place.
And Kansas City the last place team in the East? Really???
Ivan Guerrero Heading to DC
Filed under: DC United, San JoseAccording to Behind the Badge, Ivan Guerrero is heading to DC United. That’s the epitome of “movin on up.” What do you guys think of this one?
Arturo Alvarez to San Jose
Filed under: FC Uptown, FCD, San JoseArturo Alvarez of FC Dallas was traded to the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for allocation money and first round pick in the 2009 Superdraft. The Earthquakes are the team that originally drafted AA in 2003.
Coach Cobra Kai is obviously making changes, and San Jose needs a striker so maybe this is a win-win. On the other hand, Dallas better be bringing a slew of guys into town because they are losing a lot of players at once.

Lima Added And Starting Against TFC
Filed under: San Jose, Toronto FC, Transfer NewsI’ve always subscribed to the theory that if you’re going to make additions to your team, start them right away and that’s exactly what Frank Yallop and John Doyle are doing today against Toronto FC at BMO Field.
Along with sending allocation money to both Kansas City for Scott Sealy and Toronto FC for the rights to Darren Huckerby, the Earthquakes signed 37 year old Brazilian defensive midfielder Francisco Lima.
Lima’s resume is long and impressive as his stops include Sao Paulo, Lokomotiv Moscow, Bologna FC, Roma and Brescia.

A Salt Lake City Hotel Room With A View
Filed under: Fox Soccer Channel, Real Salt Lake, San JoseIt’s the 10th week of the 2008 MLS Season and it could possibly be the second most important stage of the year.
This is the time when National Team call-ups and injuries really start depleting rosters, so picking up maximum points (3) right now are extremely important to teams that haven’t necessarily gotten the best results.
How many times have GM’s, Coaches or fans taken a look back at the late spring/early summer matches played and have seen results that they dropped or picked up affect them during the run up to the Play-offs? Every point counts right now.
Tonight is a perfect example of two teams in need of 3 points as San Jose visit Rice Eccles Stadium (the first seat was installed in the new Stadium in Sandy on Friday) and Real Salt Lake for Saturday nights Fox Soccer Channel game of the week.
Frank Yallop’s men will be missing Kei Kamara (Sierra Leone), Ivan Guerrero (Honduras), Ronnie O’Brien (Rest/Knee), Jean Phillipe Peguer (Season Ending IR/Knee) and Gavin Glinton (Sports Hernia) coming off their 2-1 win over the Houston Dynamo last Thursday.
Jason Kreis won’t have Ian Joy (Red Card), Yura Movsisyan (Knee) or Nathan Sturgis (Hamstring) available for selection after RSL’s 2-1 heartbreaking come from behind loss at FC Dallas, a game that was played for 60 minutes with both teams only having 10 men on the field.
Oh, and the picture (while of pretty shitty quality) is of the State Capital on the left and small piece of the Mormon Temple on the right side.
Wolff might have just got the new Earthquake Stadium done
Filed under: San Jose, StadiumsLooks like the San Jose Airport might have just gotten a new neighbor in 2010 as Earthquake Owner Lew Wolff used his Real Estate experience to broker a deal that would build a stadium and include retail, office and hotel projects for the small price of $132 million.
While it might take awhile to get the team back to where it was, Lew’s doing a great job to solidify it’s roots to the Bay Area, where it belongs.
