Rangers manager Walter Smith has been handed a four-match touchline ban for ”adopting a threatening and aggressive attitude” in Saturday’s Premier League game at Kilmarnock, the Scottish Football Association have confirmed. (more…)
“Bono and co are currently on a World tour called the 360 degrees tour. It should be renamed to the ‘destroying football pitches’ tour. It was an all night “Drinking Binge” following their 3 - 0 loss to Holland that led to former club and country Captain Barry Ferguson to be benched ahead of a World Cup Qualifier against Iceland, but it was the famous “V Sign” caught on camera while sitting on the substitutes bench that led to the lifetime banishment that both he and teammate Allan McGregor earned themselves. And now that Ferguson has moved on with life and found a new club in the Premiership with Birmingham City, he’d finally like everyone to know what he’s thought of the situation top to bottom.
Celtic Chairman John Reid has come out swinging and swinging hard over the Scottish Premier League’s decision to accept the 65 Million Pound deal with ESPN and Sky over the course of the next three seasons after turning down double the amount offered by Sky just a year ago, choosing instead to sign on with Setanta.
After seeing their initial agreement and subsequent deal with Setanta go south quickly after the Irish Pay per View Channel ceased operations back in early June, the Scottish Premier League yesterday announced (much to the dismay of the big three… more on that later) a 65 Million Pound deal with Sky and ESPN to show 60+ matches live over the next three years in the UK and Ireland.
The Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor situation has been well documented over the course of the last two weeks, but for the first time Scotland head coach George Burley has come out publicly on how the decision came to be made and why it took multiple meetings before the ultimate line was drawn in the sand.
After being dropped from the starting lineup by Scotland head coach George Burley over a late night drinking session at the team hotel before their World Cup Qualifier against Iceland, Glasgow Rangers Captain Barry Ferguson and keeper Allan McGregor have been banned from future selection after being photographed making the “V sign” while on the substitutes bench at Hampden Park.
