Wednesday’s 10 Round Expansion Draft is set and ready to roll after every MLS team submitted their unprotected lists today at Noon.
Very interesting look behind the curtains of the thought process and decision making (between Majority owner Joe Roth / Minority owners Drew Carey, Paul Allen and Adrian Hanauer) that has gone into everything that will be Seattle Sounders FC.

The view from the Comfort Inn (they should change it to the Nightmare Inn) yesterday before our Lamar Hunt Open Cup match against the Seattle Sounders and my boy Leighton O’Brien.
Not much else to say other than we were totally outclassed by a team that was well prepared and tactically superior from the 1st minute to the 90th.
And while the boys do feel they did themselves no favors whatsoever and are obviously not happy with the result considering they are much better than the scoreline shows, they are proud of making it as far as they did.
Seattle will face Chivas USA next week at the Starfire complex for what should be a great game.
Josh Hakala, over at USOpenCup.com has a great article about the boys over on Hollywood United and the story behind its beginnings. The game against the Seattle Sounders will be live at 8pm (West Coast) on USLlive.com.
Hopefully we’ll have some of the Timber Army make their way up here and back us for the 90 minutes.
Check out all second round previews that take place tonight.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Seattle Sounders have landed Microsoft as their jersey sponsor. The deal which is valued at $4 million a year for 5 years is a huge coup for the new MLS franchise. The deal will place XBox 360 Live on the front of the jerseys, and will only add to the hype surrounding the Sounders jump to MLS. Hopefully Microsoft takes this one step further and puts an XBox 360 in every player’s locker. Talk about a tool that would entice players to want to play for the Sounders. It happens in the NBA, so why not MLS?
With all these rumors surrounding Thierry Henry, it got me thinking.
Along with a guy like Drew Carey , Microsoft Co-Founder Paul Allen and a committed business man who’s guided The Seattle Sounders to Championship status of the USL A-League in Adrian Hanauer, Hollywood Producer Joe Roth might just have enough clout to bring a superstar to the land of Starbucks.
They’ve chosen the right name, showing respect to the past while looking ahead to the future. They’ve got the local golden boy as Technical Director already in Chris Henderson, who’s played for the United States (79 times) and MLS (250+ games) AND they have the fan base already in The Emerald City Supporters.
And what an amazing fan base it is.
They just might have the ability to get Thierry Henry. Maybe.

With the announcement that Seattle has gone with nostalgia and stuck with the classic Sounders name for their new MLS franchise, I am curious as to what you think of the logo and their choice of staying with the Sounders. I like that they stayed classic and stuck with tradition that dates back to the 1970’s. Just not sure about the logo yet, although it’s possible it will grow on me. Thoughts?
