Sir Alex Ferguson relates: “It is hardly a surprise. Going to the United States does not get you the kind of football he is used to.

“It is not the right level of football, therefore coming back into the mainstream of the game is not a surprise.

“People have been edging towards that quite a while now.”

Mike Phelan Promoted To Man Utd #2

Mike Phelan

Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United has appointed former player and 1st team coach Mike Phelan the official Number 2, filling the post that Carlos Quieroz left back in early July.

While it’s not the most glamorous hiring, Phelan has been with the 1st team since 2001 after Steve McClaren left for Middlesbrough.

“Mick knows Manchester United inside out, having been associated with the club for the best part of 20 years. He is a very talented and professional coach, whose ability and contribution to the club’s success has often been understated,” Ferguson told the club’s official website.

According to the NY Post’s Gimme Shelter, Sir Alex Ferguson has picked himself up a penthouse at Manhattan House.  Who knows the reason why he decided to buy a penthouse in NY, but I gotta say that from the pictures of the building on the Manhattan House site, I am liking Sir Alex’s steez.

Admitting that he flew to Portugal to meet with the player last week, Ferguson seemed happy with the face to face sit down and has reiterated his stance that Ronaldo will be going nowhere soon.

Via SkySports

“The meeting went well - I think we both put across our points of view - where we stand and where the player stands.”I can say he’ll be a Manchester United player next season. That’s our stance - he won’t be sold.”

Asked why he had not commented on the matter until now, Ferguson replied: “It’s not a difficult position. I was on my holiday and I was not going to interrupt my holiday, believe me.
