After Sky’s touchline cameraman caught Didier Drogba’s meltdown brilliance on Norwegian referee Thomas Henning Ovrebo, which could go down as one of the most classic referee rants ever captured on live television, Ofcom (The independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries) announced they have launched an investigation into the situation that could have some very interesting ramifications for not only Drogba himself, but Chelsea and the game as a whole.

After already surpassing their previous bid of 1.314 Billion Pound to win four of the six “live game packages” premium packages last Wednesday, the Premier League announced that BSkyB won the rights to a fifth package after outbidding both Setanta and ESPN to take their spent total to 1.623 Billion Pound.

The Daily Mail is reporting the Rupert Murdoch’s Sky Sports has won the rights to four of the six “live game packages” after outbidding the competition for the 1.7 Billion Pound valued Premiership Television rights and surpassing their prior 1.314 Billion Pound payment for the current deal.
