In a remarkable show of charity, ferocious Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has pledged a £3million donation to build a hospital. Drogba is handing over the fee he will receive for becoming the new face of Pepsi. Chelsea, his employers, should have been entitled to a cut from his sponsorship fee as a result of an image rights clause in Drogba’s contract.

Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, right, kicks the ball next to Barcelona’s Carles Puyol, center, during the launching of the “1 Goal Education For All” international campaign in Madrid, Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009. In the background are former players of the Spanish national soccer team who posed for a family photo at the 100-year anniversary of the Spanish Soccer Federation.

75 million children are out of schoool, and millions more struggle to stay in school. This is a battle we can win - with the right political will and resources Education for All is possible.

A short film was produced for the Education for All: Class of 2015 that was launched at the UN in September 2008. The class brings together celebrities, world leaders and activists to ensure that Education for All becomes a reality. See the video after the jump… (more…)

Documentary Series - Failure: The Secret to Success

Filed under: Business, Cars, Social Issues

Honda has created a series of short documentary films that celebrate the companies beliefs and values. I think they are pretty clever. This one is awesome, its called Failure: The Secret to Success.

“Failure: The Secret to Success” depicts Honda’s belief in the importance of never being afraid to try something new. Through personal experiences of Honda associates and those affiliated with Honda, such as IndyCar driver Danica Patrick, the film explores failures and risks taken that helped lead to new innovations.

I dig it mostly because even though its put out by a particular company, it really gives you something that you can apply to anything. A lot of these words we have heard many times, but it doesn’t hurt to hear ‘em again. See “Kick Out the Ladder” after the jump, another pretty good one. (more…)

ReThink Breast Cancer x Advertising = Save The Boobs Campaign

From the LA Times:

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a new crop of public service announcements leverage male lechery to an astonishing degree. The latest and greatest is a spot called “Save the Boobs,” from the Rethink Breast Cancer charity, in which a voluptuous young woman in a white bikini walks into a pool party scene. Strip-club music kicks in and the camera slow-mo’s her fleshy assets while the partygoers attempt to pick their jaws up off the ground. No discreet, quick-cut editing here. The camera stares, unblinking, unashamed, at the woman’s figure. (more…)
