For Philadelphia Union’s season opener Union Field may not be ready

Union president Tom Veit confirmed a Washington Post report that the team has explored the option in case the 18,500-seat soccer stadium under construction on Chester’s waterfront runs behind its completion date or the proposed opening date schedule from Major League Soccer does not accommodate the team’s already tight construction deadline. Gresty Road, Crewe Alexandra FC 1979
Filed under: English Football Association, StadiumsCrewe Alexandra FC are an English football team based at Gresty Road in Crewe, Cheshire and nicknamed The Railwaymen due to the town’s historical links with the rail industry.
Crewe Alexandra finished in last place in England’s Fourth Division in 1979, the local railway works (opened in 1840) next door was slowly dying, but Gresty Road could hold 17,000 in the days of terraces when this home movie was shot. Gresty Road today.

FCD Returns to Cotton Bowl September 30th
Filed under: FCD, Friendlies, Mexico, StadiumsFC Dallas will play the NE Revolution on September 30th at the Cotton Bowl in downtown Dallas, ahead of the Mexico vs Colombia friendly and during the State Fair of Texas. This will be FCD’s first trip back to their previous home since the Dallas Burn moved to suburban Frisco.
Pizza Hut Park is great, but the Cotton Bowl (on the far side of Deep Ellum in Fair Park) will always draw a more lively crowd.
