I’ve been fortunate enough to get an up close look at a few soccer specific stadiums during construction over the last couple of years, but with the addition of Rio Tinto last year and what you see above, it’s a good time to be a fan of soccer in the states.
Big shout to Andy McGowan for hooking myself, Shaun, Jamison and Trey up with a personal tour of the upcoming Red Bull Arena. This is going to be an unreal stadium to watch a game in.

The final piece of structural steel is put into place at Red Bull Arena on Tuesday, April 14, 2009.
“Rumor has it (via FanNation) that TFC is getting ready to announce a summer friendly with a major European team. Part of the deal is said to be a grass field brought into BMO for the game.”

Responding to the news that Prince George County will not approve a stadium for DC United, Commissioner Garber breaks it right down for everyone, “…if something can’t be resolved, we will move the team…”
“The Prince George’s County Council voted Tuesday to effectively kill the team’s plan to move from the District’s RFK Stadium to a new 24,000-seat stadium in the county.”
“Hoping to speed along a San Jose Earthquakes soccer stadium threatened by the cratering economy, city officials have agreed to shave more than $40 million off a land deal signed last year with team owner Lew Wolff and his partners.”
