Apple iPhone 3G

apple-3g-iphone

If you missed the initial launch of the iPhone and you have been waiting for your chance to get in on the craze, your time has come. Apple has just announced they are releasing the 3G iPhone which is thinner, quicker, has longer batter power, 3rd part apps, etc. The key selling point on the 3G? It’s going to cost $199 for the 8GB and $299 for the 16GB. Cutting the price in half is a big move, and Apple should kill it once again when these are released in July.

Social Networking x Soccer

oleole

I have talked before how the Internet is changing the relationship that fans have with the games. We are able to be involved in a different way, voice our opinions, and connect with other fans from all over the world. Harnessing the power of the Internet to benefit the growth of the sport and our culture is no small undertaking. But it is definitely being done.

One of the leading sites pushing the social networking side of the sport is OleOle.  According to their site, “OleOle is the ultimate online playground for professional football.” You can build your own blog on the site, create a profile amd all those other social networking type tools we have become accustomed to, only this time the focus is squarely on the beautiful game. Click here to check the site and get your own profile up and running. And if you end up starting your own blog on there, hit us off with it and we’ll let people know about it.

Tombstone

Japanese tombstone maker Ishinokoe has introduced technology from the after life by offering mourning families Hi-tech tombstones.

The individual tombstones have a QR code (square code) locked inside, allowing family and friends to use their cellular phones to access the code which links them to a web address, allowing them to see the deceased in videos and pictures from a web site at the graveyard.

Price is 200,000 Yen or $1,901.05 as of today’s exchange rate.

Oh yeah, they can add this to existing grave sites..

Black Custom iPhone

The customization process has started with the iPhone.  The 16GB iPhone now has been completely upgraded with black replacement parts, new Apple logo and will only cost you $849.

If you want to send in your current iPhone to have it geared out you can, but test runs have shown it takes about a week.

PS - They’re also dropping the Black iPod Nano ($99/$329 new) and the Black iPod Touch ($129/$529 new) just for shits and giggles.

Muxtape

Muxtape

Dunny mentioned Pandora earlier, and I’m pretty sure that everyone has their favorite music streaming site. One of my new obsessions though is Muxtape. In an ode to the days when you would make your own mixtape and share it with those that mattered (making a girl a mixtape was the ultimate symbol that you cared).  Well Muxtape is bringing this idea back in a digital way. Basically it works like this:

1. Create an account

2. Upload songs to your account that you want to make a mixtape with

3. Your mixtape is accessible to other members of the community, as are their mixtapes for you

So not only do you get to put a little of who you are into your muxtape for others to listen to, you also get to find out what other’s are listening to along the way.  I’ll post a link to my first muxtape soon.

Happy 35th Birthday Mr. Cell Phone

Martin Cooper

It all started on April 3rd, 1973 as Martin Cooper made the first cell phone call to his rival, just to rub it in a little.  The Motorola DynaTAC (Dynamic Total Area Coverage) was 9 inches tall and 2 1/2 pounds and after just 35 minutes of use needed 10 hours of recharging to get the batteries going again.

Remember when Zach from Saved By The Bell pulled out his Dad’s cell?  Brick Top.

Shark Pat

There are a few things in life that I’m deathly afraid of and not afraid to admit here.  Besides burning to death, getting eaten alive goes down as #2 in my book, so I’ve got to give this guy props for Cajones.

Of course this is a Great White and of course this picture was taken in Australia.  But what it doesn’t show are the devices they’re testing Down Under, Shark Shields.  Meant to keep the Great Whites away from surfers, the Shark Shields send out electric shocks out 8 yards away from the device.
