Gizmodo @ Reed Space

I’m a pretty big fan of Jeff Staple and his Staple Design.  I’m also a huge fan of Gizmodo and all the tech news they break and products they explain. From December 4-7 Gizmodo will be taking over Staple’s The Reed Space and curating a gallery for tech lovers. If you happen to be in the NYC area during these dates, and are a technology fan, I highly suggest heading to The Reed Space Annex and checking out what they have going on. Should be pretty incredible for any tech fan.

The New MacBook

apple-macbook-new

New design and new price point? I am very down with the new MacBook.  According to Gizmodo, who know this stuff way better than I do, here are some details…

• The latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors running at 2.4GHz and 2.53GHz.
• Nvidia GeForce 9400m, a chipset that includes a graphics processors. 70 percent of it is the processor, with 16 parallel chips in one and 54 gigaflops.
• Nvidia GeForce 9600m GT graphics:
- 32 parallel graphics cores
- 120 gigaflops
- 512 MBytes.
• New multi-touch glass trackpad that acts as single button, providing a click feedback when you push it.
• The trackpad is 39% larger than previous models.
• It admits four-finger gestures, so you can call exposé now by using the four fingers, as well as to activate app switching.
• LED displays, which makes the screen a lot thinner.
• All connections are one side.
• Black MacBook Air style keyboard.
• Mini DisplayPort connector.

I don’t really know what everything in the above list means…

Blackberry Storm v iPhone

blackberry-storm-1

Looks like Blackberry (RIM) is finally ready to go mano a mano with the iPhone with the Blackberry Storm. I’m pretty loyal to Blackberry so I’m excited to see this one come out. It looks pretty amazing to me, although from the pictures I’ve seen, the iPhone takes the cake in terms of design.

Apple Set To Drop Aluminum Macbook in October

Filed under: Apple, Cool Ish, Technology

apple-macbook-aluminum

According to some reports, Apple will drop their new aluminum Macbooks on us this October. Not only will they have a thin aluminum casing, but they also might be priced lower than pervious Macbooks. There has been chatter that Apple is going to start lowering prices on products to become even more competitive, and what better way than to drop a lower priced Macbook.  I would be very down with this.

B Scanner

bscanner-1

Technology is off the hook. I love seeing what people are able to come up with these days. I especially love it when I come across something that is not only technologically great but finctional as well. And that is exactly what the B Scanner is. Created by Sungwoo Park and Bongkun Shin (amazing name by the way), the B Scanner makes the whole transaction of swapping and storing business cards much easier.

Business cards have become less of a way to disseminate contact information and more about brand extension, so it makes no sense to spend so much money on them only to be thrown out after someone transcribes all the relevant information into an address book. The B-Scanner helps with both aspects.

Just slide in any standard size card and an image capture is kept in memory. You sort and thumb thru each card via a jog dial and everything shows up beautifully on an OLED screen, sharp enough for small text.

Apparently this is still a concept, but I would definitely be up for giving it a try. More images after the jump.
