Blackberry Thunder

The touch screen craze for cell phones is exploding. Ever since Apple released their iPhone, touch screens are starting to pop up from a variety of manufacturers.  Rumors have circulated about Blackberry jumping on the bandwagon, but now comes some credible info about this. The Blackberry 9500 (Thunder) will be RIM’s take on the touch screen. I know people are loving their iPhones, but i’m not sure the touch screen is the best way to go for the Blackberry. I don’t know if I could get down with this phone or not, but never say never. Oh, and by the way, word is this Blackberry will be a lifetime exclusive to Verizon and Vodafone.

HoloText Messaging

Everyday I am amazed by some technological advancement and the people that create them. This was achieved today by the HoloText. If this makes its way into our daily lives, reading text messages will become a hell of a lot more interesting. Just gotta be careful and make sure you don’t open certain text messages around certain individuals.

With the Phoenix Mars Lander on a planet far, far away collecting soil samples, astronomers found what they are calling “three Super Earths” using a new Chilean telescope called HARPS (High Accuracy Radial velocity Planet Searcher).

The three planets found yesterday are 4.2, 6.7, and 9.4 times the Earth’s mass, and all three of them orbit their sun in less than 20 days.

If University of Zurich Professor Rolf Pfeifer has his way, by 2050 his robots will replace the best players in the world on the pitch.

According to his estimations, a team from the European Robot Football Tournament will beat Austria by 2015 or 2017, but will take until 2025 to get past the Brazilians.

apple-3g-iphone

If you missed the initial launch of the iPhone and you have been waiting for your chance to get in on the craze, your time has come. Apple has just announced they are releasing the 3G iPhone which is thinner, quicker, has longer batter power, 3rd part apps, etc. The key selling point on the 3G? It’s going to cost $199 for the 8GB and $299 for the 16GB. Cutting the price in half is a big move, and Apple should kill it once again when these are released in July.

Tombstone

Japanese tombstone maker Ishinokoe has introduced technology from the after life by offering mourning families Hi-tech tombstones.

The individual tombstones have a QR code (square code) locked inside, allowing family and friends to use their cellular phones to access the code which links them to a web address, allowing them to see the deceased in videos and pictures from a web site at the graveyard.

Price is 200,000 Yen or $1,901.05 as of today’s exchange rate.

Oh yeah, they can add this to existing grave sites..
