Thierry Henry and NY Red Bull in Talks?

Filed under: MLS, New York Red Bull, Thierry Henry

According to Soccer365

A Sky Sports report has Manchester City manager Mark Hughes revealing that Barcelona striker Thierry Henry has held talks with the New York Red Bulls about joining up next summer…

This needs to happen! There have been reports about this happening for awhile now, and it seems to me that joining MLS post 2010 World Cup would be the best time to do it.

Thierry Henry Blasts France’s Lack Of Style And Leadership

Thierry Henry

You’d have to think that losing probably the most influential player on and off the field can’t be a good thing for France head coach Raymond Domenech after it’s been alleged in the European Press that Thierry Henry stood up for his teammates at halftime of their 1 - 1 draw at home against Romania.

Sports top earners - the Fortunate 50 and International 20

Sports Illustrated featured its Fortunate 50 list, displaying the top earning American athletes, and as you probably guessed it, its topped by Tiger Woods, who earned close to $100 milli in 2008($99,737,626 to be exact according to Fortune). This is crazy when you think that the figure is bigger than the next two guys combined, Phil Mickelson($52m) and LeBron James($42m). Its even crazier when you remembered that he missed half of the season because he was trying to play golf(and winning) with a blown out knee and a broken leg! Yesterday I tried to play golf slightly hung and my swing looked like I didn’t know my arse from my elbow.

Anyways, this is a futbol site and it is definitely It’s boom time for foreign-born athletes. Despite the slow economy, the average earnings of the top 20 non-American sportsmen are at an all-time high $29.5 million. In all, this year’s list features seven soccer players. See who they are are where they rank internationally after the jump (more…)

A Look Back At Thierry Henry’s 2007/08 Campaign

Filed under: Barcelona, Thierry Henry, Videos

UPDATE -  Looks like Raymond Domenech has finally used whatever he has left up stairs in naming the common sense choice for the Captain of France, Thierry Henry.

Domenech’s team against Sweden for tomorrow night’s Friendly.

Steve Mandanda; Bakary Sagna, Philippe Mexes, William Gallas, Patrice Evra; Sidney Govou, Jeremy Toulalan, Lassana Diarra, Florent Malouda; Thierry Henry, Karim Benzema.

19 goals and 11 assists for a guy who just got divorced, was away from his child, coming off injury and playing out of position.

I’m thinking 2008/09 will be a lot kinder to one of the best players on the planet.

Thierry Henry Please Join MLS

I want to start this off by saying no one has told me that Henry is coming to MLS or anything like that. Instead, this is more of a “what if” type thing. With Henry in New York with Barcelona for a friendly against Red Bull New York, I can’t help myself  imagining Henry in MLS one day. Everyone knows Henry is a huge fan of New York, and I have to guess that the folks over at Red Bull feel the same towards Henry.  This has got to be the perfect fit.

With the success that Beckham has been for the league so far, bringing in Henry and planting him in New York would have at least the same effect (imagine the fear he would strike in every defense in the league). A world class star in the two biggest markets in the country would be huge. A big LA v NY rivalry would be great for the league and the sport. I got my fingers crossed that this one will happen sooner rather than later. After the jump, check out one of my all time Thierry Henry videos.
