Spurs Re-Visit Signing Arshavin

Filed under: Andrei Arshavin, Tottenham, Transfer News

arshavin

Tottenham Hotspurs chased Andrei Arshavin all summer in an on again, off again transfer saga. Th edeal never went through, and they ended up signing fellow Russian Roman Pavlyuchenko. However, after an awful start to the season, it looks like Spurs are back in and confident they will land the 27 year old Arshavin for £15million in the January transfer window. I hope they do just so this ongoing drama can come to an end.

Dimitar Berbatov

SkySports is reporting that the drama filled transfer saga of Dimitar Berbatov is finally over after the Bulgarian passed a medical and agreed to personal terms with Manchester United.

Tottenham’s acceptance of United’s 30.75 Million Pound deal included a season long loan for highly rater Frazier Campbell and as part of the deal, Tottenham will no longer be pursuing their “grievance” of the tapping up claims in early August.

Uefa Cup Draw, First Round

Filed under: Portsmouth, Rennes, Tottenham, UEFA

Uefa Cup

With all the hoopla surrounding today’s Uefa Super Cup Final between Manchester United (Champions League Winner) and Zenit St. Petersburg (Uefa Cup Holders) on Fox Soccer Channel at 11.30am (West Coast), the 2008/09 Uefa Cup First Round draw might have gotten lost in the shuffle.

And while every team’s am is to get to the final at Instanbul’s Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on May 20th, pushing through the first home (September 18th) and away leg (October 2nd) will be the first test.

Some of the more interesting pairings are after the Jump….

Berbatov To Old Trafford This Week?

Filed under: Dimitar Berbatov, Frederic Kanoute, Man Utd, Rumors, Tottenham

UPDATE - With the Berbatov to United rumors comes the Frederic Kanoute to Tottenham talk.

Yes, that Kanoute, the one who fell out of favor with then head coach David Pleat after heading out to the African Nations Cup with Mali. Kanoute scored 14 goals for Spurs in 60 matches only three years ago before moving to Sevilla and La Liga for 6.5 Million Pound, and finding the back of the net 43 times in 94 matches.

The move would once again link up Kanoute with former Sevilla head coach Juande Ramos.

Dimitar Berbatov

Right at the beginning of the 2008 Summer Transfer Window, all signs were pointing to Tottenham Hotspur forward Dimitar Berbatov making a big money move to Manchester United. That was before the Tottenham brass reported Sir Alex and his staff to the Football Association over their pursuit of the Bulgarian.

After last weekends Community Shield win over Portsmouth, Sir Alex said he hoped to have a new “attacking” player signed within the next week and he might finally be close to landing his man.

With Zenit and Russian striker Andrei Arshavin’s price tag still considerably high, Spurs head coach Juande Ramos might use the sale of Berbatov to Manchester United (reported to be around 28 Million Pound) as the funding needed to pool together just a bit more cash, along with the money from the sale of Robbie Keane to Liverpool.

Dimitar Berbatov to Man United Almost Done

Filed under: Dimitar Berbatov, Man Utd, Rumors, Tottenham, Transfer News

dimitar-berbatov-to-united

Looks like the Dimitar Berbatov saga might be wrapping up with the striker on the verge of a £28m move to Manchester United. As with damn near every other transfer this summer, this one has been dragged out way longer than it should. With the season kicking off this weekend, and Manchester United taking their official team photos this Friday, look for this one to be wrapped up very, very soon.

Tottenham Looking Set For Some Serious Spending

Filed under: Andrei Arshavin, David Villa, Dimitar Berbatov, Tottenham

juande-ramos

Looks like Juande Ramos is set to go on a major buying spree. It appears as if the Spurs boss is going to splash out £60million large on David Villa, Andrei Arshavin (please let this one be over soon) and Manchester City’s Vedran Corluk. With £20million already in from the sale of Robbie Keane, look for Ramos to unload Dimitar Berbatov (to Man Utd possibly) to help finance the deal for David Villa. Couple these deals with the players that Ramos has already brought in (Luka Modric and Giovani dos Santos), and those he has let leave (Defoe, Paul Robinson, Keane) and it is clear that Senor Ramos is re-building Spurs to his liking. If all this goes down, do Spurs become the best team in North London?
