Even though Swamp Thing came out in 1982, this movie still plays a hilarious role in my life, which is why I’m interested in seeing what this Joel Silver - Swamp Thing 3-D talk is all about.
I was four years old, maybe five when I begged my parents to see Swamp Thing. I just couldn’t get enough of the commercials (which now looking back were pretty HORRIBLE, even for 1982 standards) and basically used my four / five year old power to bring them to their knees and take me to the movie theater.
We made it about three quarters of the way through before the scene where Swamp Thing was about to get jacked up pretty bad. For some reason, I thought Swamp Thing needed to know that the bad guy was sneaking up on him from behind, so I jumped up on my seat and screamed while it was dead silent, “Look out behind you Swamp Thing!” (because obviously he could hear me and would probably thank me later….)
The entire theater (which seemed about 75% full) turned around in shock and when they started laughing, I did what every kid my age would do in that situation.
Film Summary ORGIES AND THE MEANING OF LIFE is an eccentric and exciting film illuminating the inner and outer life of Baxter Goode, a man trying to find an ending to his book (about a sex obsessed stick figure searching for a portal to the three dimensional world) even as his father, a best selling Christian author, tries to stop him. His life is further complicated by his search for the ‘one’, a woman he is sure will liberate him from his long addiction to orgy fantasies. Both of these pursuits are somehow connected to God, who may or may not be a stick figure, and Baxter’s lesbian roommate, who may or may not be imaginary. (more…)
