A look back at the girls at the Peace Cup in South Korea, dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, Angela Hucles in a fashion show and game highlights.

Seems like they’re having a pretty damn good time playing under Pia.

US Women In Beijing

The US Women have landed in Beijing (without our girl Leslie Osborne, Cat Whitehill and Abby Wambach who will all miss the Olympics due to injury) to prepare for their 2008 Olympic grouping in Qinhuangdao, the venue for the first two matches.

Now it’s training, passport, paperwork, drug testing and everything else that happens behind the scenes before an Olympic Tournament.

Follow the team’s updates on WNT-USSoccer.BlogSpot.

Allocation Date Set

Women’s Professional Soccer League

The new Women’s Professional Soccer League has announced the Allocation Draft of National Team Players among the seven teams will take place the week of September 15th.

With players having the ability to let it be known which city they’d like to play in as well as the teams having their obvious wish lists, the only major thing standing in the way is an agreement with National Team Players Association.

The league is scheduled to debut spring of ‘09 with clubs in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New Jersey/New York, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C.

Still think it’s pretty cool that the Women’s Professional Soccer League paid respect to Mis Hamm with her silhouette being used as the leagues logo.

US Women Lose Cat Whitehill To ACL

Cat Whitehill

Just three weeks after losing defensive midfielder Leslie Osborne to a torn ACL in the build up to the South Korean Peace Queen Cup, the Women’s team lost another with defender Cat Whitehill going down in South Korea.

Stephanie Cox has flown in to replace Whitehill on the roster as Cat is returning back to the states to prepare for surgery.

Both Osborne and Whitehill will be severly missed as both are integral parts of the squad, but are expected to be back at full strength and in the squad by spring of 2009.
