It’s been a rough time in the financial world of Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson (even though a year ago Forbes had him pretty high up), so much so that he’s seen ownership transferred to an Asset Management Company to run the club, a move which is believed to have protected the long term future of West Ham.
Former Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has come out firing at Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore and acknowledged that he is looking into a personal compensation claim against West Ham United following their 25 Million Pound compensation settlement with the Blades.
After acknowledging last Friday to pay upwards of 15 Million Pound to Sheffield United for the controversy over the registration of Carlos Tevez back in the 2006 / 07 Premiership campaign, West Ham United and Sheffield United have announced a 25 Million Pound out of court settlement before today’s scheduled ruling from Lord Griffiths and his Independent Tribunal.
West Ham have agreed to pay 15+ Million Pound to Sheffield United, bypassing the initial 45 Million Pound Compesation Claim they wanted after it was acknowledged that Carlos Tevez influenced their 2006 / 07 Premiership Relegation after the Argentina International scored the winner against Manchester United on the last day of the season, as his signing was in breach of the Premiership’s third party ownership rules.

We’ve already seen Round 1 between West Ham and Sheffield United go to the Blades with their desire to go the Arbitration Claim route and Round 2 looks set to begin with the FA and Premier League launching their own investigation.
DOUBLE UPDATE - Mr Justice Teare has granted a temporary injunction to stop The Hammers from appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over a ruling they had breached Premier League rules in signing the Argentine.The decision will allow The Blades to pursue their arbitration claim for damages over relegation from the Premier League last season.
UPDATE - Both the Hammers and the Blades will be forced to wait to find out if Sheffield United’s legal injunction will be put into action after Judge Teare put off his decision and will make a ruling sometime before Christmas.
It’s going to be another big week for the Hammers as Mr. Justice Teare of Commercial Court 24 is set to hear in private the ongoing saga of Carlos Tevez’ time at West Ham.
