Women’s Professional Soccer not coming back after hiatus | League folds after three seasons

Filed under: Business, Money, Women's Professional Soccer League

from ESPNW:

The Women’s Professional Soccer league has folded after three seasons.

“We sincerely regret having to take this course of action,” said T. Fitz Johnson, Atlanta Beat owner and chairman of the WPS.

The league had canceled the 2012 season in January, at the time hoping to return next year. But the remaining five owners announced in a statement Friday that all operations were suspended permanently.

“We are proud of what WPS has accomplished, having attracted the highest quality players in the world to play in the best women’s league, as well as the progress women’s soccer has enjoyed over the past three years,” Thomas Hofstetter, CEO and president of Sky Blue FC, said.

Video :: “Sissi the Oracle” dachshund picked Bayern Munich over Chelsea FC

Filed under: Bayen Munich, Champions League, Chelsea, Culture & Lifestyle, Videos

Apparently Sissi the dachshund predicts Bayern Munich as winner of Saturday’s Champions League soccer final against British FC Chelsea by choosing the feeding bowl in front of the Bayern goal. Obviously, this is their version of the Paul the World Cup octopus but I’m a little leery of this one. Sissi was born in Munich … and who knows if that is some sort of special dog food … and whats up with that stage set up … I dont know about this one.

*** Someone is going to have to figure out the tunnels thing and put it in the comments.

Video :: Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview with CNN: Thinks he is better than Lionel Messi

Filed under: Barcelona, Bayen Munich, Champions League, Chelsea, Cristiano Ronaldo, Interviews, Real Madrid

Is Cristiano Ronaldo better than Messi? He certainly thinks so.

“Some people say I’m better, other people say it’s him, but at the end of the day, they’re going to decide who is the best player,” Ronaldo told CNN’s Pedro Pinto in an exclusive interview before this weekend’s Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Chelsea at Munich’s Allianz Arena.

“At the moment … I think it is me.”

* If there is one thing that we know, its that Cristiano DOES NOT lack confidence. Confidence in himself, confidence in his mates, confidence in his teams. That swag is on full display in this interview as he talks about Real’s dominance over Barca this season, how much he likes Jose Mourinho and thinks he is the best manager, and then he gets into the Cristiano v. Messi thing. He says he is tired of being compared to each other… but he feels they push each other but you cannot compare the two:

“You cannot compare a Ferrari with a Porsche. They are different engines.”

** A man has to be reeeeal confident to get away with that salad…

CHILDISH GAMBINO – “WE AIN’T THEM”

: Language NSFW

Yesterday Donald Glover had a Kanye x Twitter moment and went in for like a 15 post filibuster that was pretty dope. He gave you a nice rundown of his life, how he thinks, where he was, where he is, and he then dropped this new track. The irony is that most of what he said is in his music, but seeing it in my timeline sort of puts it into a different perspective. Donald Glover / Childish Gambino is dope. He is ridiculously talented. He should’ve been cast as Spider-Man. Thats all.

Good Fucking Design Advice is a collaborative project between designers/educators Brian Buirge and Jason Bacher. The site originally started as a humorous side project while in graduate school and has since taken off to garner international attention. During its first year GFDA released a series of products designed to inspire the masses including shirts, posters, coffee mugs and buttons.

* This is the best thing I’ve seen in a while. and its crazy because I hadn’t seen or heard about it until an hour ago. I’m in that camp of go hard and sleep when I’m dead… Im pretty sure you can figure that out because my TOW post output is really random. But here is the thing, I / we do it because we love it. F*ck sleep. F*ck the bs. F*ck everyone who doesn’t believe in Soccer In America. F*ck everything that doesn’t let us bring you guys the best content from the web and the best t-shirt designs and the best soccer shit out there. This is more than a brand. This is more than a lifestyle. This is a movement. We live this life. and GFDA, even though it has nothing to do with what we do, it still is right where it needs to be.

** These guys made a business out of the word, FUCK. How awesome is that!

*** And oh by the way, I bought the black on black poster. I had to. $30 bucks with shipping is a steal.
